I™m on my 2nd week on the regimen going on my 3rd in a few days . So all my acne are going away . I don™t have any active acne on my face . But the bottom half of my face is flaky , peeling , and leaving dark patches. Help ???! Will this go away when with AHA use ? It™s the 6th I will be able to use it on the 20th ,which will be a month . Will the dark patches go away ? Please help . The dark patches have this weird texture

The flaky skin might be caused by malasezzia fungus. Buy some topical terbenafine crem (often sold aLamisil) and apply that to the areas with flaking skin 2-3 times a day. Topical terbenafine cream is TOTALLY safe.

Do NOT apply any moisturisers or organic oils to the areas with flaking skim - malasezzia FEEDS on organic oils. The flaking skin will stop as you control the fungus.

So the Aha wont fix it ?? Its flaky because of benzoyl perxiode. I have no active acne ? Just discolorations with flakiness

Shahana

I'm not sure whether the AHA will fix the problem or not. The dark patches are probably due to oxidation by the benzoyl peroxide.

Do you have to keep using the benzoyl peroxide to control the acne ?

You may still have a fungal problem on the surface of your skin. Do you have - dandruff, flaking eyebrows, a white tongue ? Have you taken antibiotics ?

OK, the dark skin is most likely caused by the benzoyl peroxide oxidising your sebum/skin...

The dark colour will go away as your skin naturally "wears away" if the dark colour is just oxidised skin tissue. Can you post a close up picture of a dark patch.
