After lurkibg for years i decided to finslly post something. Basically ive been dealing with acn© since i was 13 (im currently 21) and its a neverending battle. Ive been through so Many dermstologists and treatments. Last year i finslly got clear skin thanks to tretinoin but, after not using ir durig the summer after doctors reccomendation, my acn© came back. It was so bad and infected that i had a swollen linf node and has to tske antibi³tics (lymecyclin) . During that bad breakout i did something i had never done before, i picked At my skin (bad idea) now un dealing with scars, PIH , my still horribly oily skin, and numerous Whiteheads and blackheads. Im still on tretinoin aand i use bha and AHA ...i dont know why muy skin doesnt get better. Im starting to loose hope. Right now un trying out cutting diary and taking supplements (vitamin c and zinc for now) ill Update my progress soon

Judging by the pictures you don't seem to be a picker. It took me 8 years to realize that picking makes my skin much worse.

Do you have acne only on your cheecks?

Yeah, only on my cheeks. I cant figure why , even tho they get oily, they are the least oily part of my face

Hang in there. The isotretinoin probably needs time to kick in again. All the best. Keep posting.

My biggest problem is how oily my skin is. I go to sleep and wake up with so many whiteheads

Try drinking a lot of water for 1 week and see if you notice the difference.

Also your skin is not even half as oily as mine. It can be worse, trust me.

It can take 4-5 months. Some people don't clear til course has finished.

Apparently Isotretinoin keeps working up to 8 weeks after stopping.

Sadly patience is needed. Check out cumulative doses. You have already suffered return of acne after stopping over summer so check with derm that you don't stop til you have had the right cumulative dose for your weight.

For clarification: are you using a topical istotretinoin cream? or are you taking isotretinoin orally as a tablet? They work differently.

Sorry I wrongly assumed you were on isotretinoin orally ( roaccutane) . I have no idea about the topical version of isotretinoin. Hopefully someone else can advise you re that and timescales. All the best.

I was on a prescription for Epiduo a few years ago - its a mix of Benzoyl Peroxide and Adapalene (a form of topical isotretinoin). Although I found it took a good three months to see results, I found that the Adapalene meant my skin was turning over quicker which meant the redness faded quicker too. Topical isotretinoin (known variously as Retin-A or Adapalene) is often prescribed to improve skin texture, so hopefully you see good results with this.

While using topical isotretinoin you should NOT be using any BHA or AHA product at the same time. You don't want to over irritate your skin! You can use AHA, but if you do give the isotretinoin a miss that day.

One tip - try not to chop and change products and habits all the time. When you change something you need to give it at least four weeks to really know if it's making a difference or making things worse.

Just here to say that there is improvement in your skin, and yeah jolly is right, do not use too many products, a mild cleanser, a good non comedogenic moisturizer and use sunscreen religiously.
