Low Estrogen & Higher Testosterone

Hello!

I recently received my saliva hormone tests and it showed that I have VERY low Estrogen, and mid-high range of Testosterone. Also my Progesterone is in the average-low range. I would love to get any one else opinion on what I should do to correct this and stop my acne - as this is obviously the cause. I would like to note that I think a lot of people will go straight to PCOS - but I am very thin, I do not have hardly any body hair, I have been checked for ovarian cysts, and I check my blood sugar from time to time I do not have insulin sensitivity. I am 25 years old, and have had acne since I have started my period, I have regular periods. I have acne on all areas of my face, more pronounced uncharacteristically lately on the sides of my cheeks. I also have a little bit of acne on my neck, a few on my chest, and quite a bit on my back. Beyaz/Yasmin birth control & Spironolactone cleared me completely until one day it stopped working and I began to search for another more holistic route to match the rest of my lifestyle.

Hey I've been reading your posts.
Have you tried any of these:
Cod liver oil, evening primrose oil, wild yam oil, spearmint tea, inositol, vitamin B5 or saw palmetto+ nettle?

Hi! I have tried all except evening primrose oil, and have JUST started taking myo-inositol 3 days ago 1500mg. Its only been 3 days but I do not feel any different or notice any different when taking these pills, which seems a little odd to me because it is such a high dose I should be feeling some sort of side effects, or anything really. My naturopath thinks it could be possible that the Inositol will help if I do actually have PCOS, which I have been avoiding for a while because I have none of the symptoms except elevated testosterone. My younger sister is a diabetic so I have used her equipment to do blood sugar tests and I always come back normal, I have been checked for ovary cysts, I am very thin, and I do not have any excessive hair growth. But I'm just about out of options so I'm trying the Inositol before I give completely up and get back on BeYaz birth control and Spironolactone - even though both stopped working for me and is the reason I got off of them in the first place to find the root cause of my acne. It is now full blown, insane, there is not an inch on my face that is normal skin. I have been working with my Naturopath for almost 4 months now and she has admitted that she is at a loss. We have done testing, trial and error through herbs and other supplements and just cannot figure it out. She is working on finding me an Endocrinologist that she can refer me to. In the meantime she has sent me a test she thinks I should get done (which is very expensive $400) but I am thinking of doing it - that way if we are still stumped with all of those test results I will have a nice hefty packet of information to bring along with me to the Endocrinologist.

Loosing my mind.

I understand. Often there are variations of known conditions, maybe what you have isn't exactly PCOS but something similar. I'm sorry that you're stuck. Maybe you should try a high antioxidant, low inflammatory diet? I'd doing that at present. I added cod liver oil, tart cherry juice and green tea. And zinc! Oysters and sweet potatoes.

I just thought of a remote possibility, sometimes growths on your ovaries, adrenal glands or pituitary can cause hormonal changes. Just to be on the safe side maybe mention it to your doctor. I've heard of cases where tumors or growths even benign ones can cause higher testosterone.

Hi there. I know your struggle and it sucks. I also have hormonal acne but I haven't gotten my hormones tested, going to get a referal for a endocrinologist next week. I really do recommend going to one since they specialize in hormones. My face is covered as well. It's odd that nothing has worked for you; this girl named Sarah Day on youtube made 2 videos about her hormonal acne, her naturopath, and what she's taking (except she has pcos I think), some of the stuff she says might be useful for you. I remember her mentioning she had to go through several naturopaths before finding one that actually helped her. And I've read a bit about inositol and indeed it is for fighting high testosterone, I'm not sure if it's only for people with pcos, I'm currently taking it but I'm not 100% sure if it's doing anything because I just got off vitex and DIM.

No she has not brought that one up, she wanted me to get a combination of cortisol testing, DHTs, DHEAs just the whole thing - but I have heard of this test throughout my research, it is connect with ACTH and cortisol and the pituitary? Its something I would like to get checked out of course with an endo. I actually have not spoken with my naturopath in a while now, since she has referred me to an endocrinologist because she is stumped. However I do not have really great health insurance right now and can't go to any specialists.

Thanks for the advice! I will be sure to look her up - and I would LOVE to go to the endo, its actually my only real path right now but my insurance does not cover specialists. I hope they can figure it out for you!!
