wheezy 0 Share Posted November 9, 2004 Hi all...I found this board a few weeks ago and have been reading it every chance I get! Great site Question for any of you. I have several ice pick scars on my cheeks. I bought the Estee Lauder microdermabrasion cream about a month ago to try. I used it like instructed and I don't know what happened but I think it has made my icepicks look worse! They are now more defined and hollow looking. Has anyone else experienced this. I have an appointment with a cosmetic surgeon next week. I had been thinking about microdermabrasion to help pep my skin up a bit but am really scared now!Any help would be apprectiated.By the way...bought Elicina to in the last couple of weeks. I love the way it makes my skin feel and I have just been putting powder over it. Foundation seems to make my scars look worse too now! Thanks
SuzanneHopes 1 Share Posted November 9, 2004 I had the same experience as you.....here is what I think happend..the dermabrasion. "sanded" the skin AROUND the ice picks, thus widening them..It will be no different if you have it done at a P/S...IMO I wouldnt do it. I also had the same thing happen with laser and chemical peels...the skin around the picks peeled off ....making em look huge...

SuzanneHopes 1 Share Posted November 9, 2004 You are very lucky ...I am happy it worked out for you My ice pick scars were very deep...thats probably why they looked worse after the microdermabrasion, laser and chem.peel.I chose the excision route on my cheeks....expensive..but now they are gone. wheezy 0 Author Share Posted November 9, 2004 What kind of doctor did your excision? I have thought about that too. It really seems like the most logical route to get rid of icepicks! You are very lucky ...I am happy it worked out for you My ice pick scars were very deep...thats probably why they looked worse after the microdermabrasion, laser and chem.peel.I chose the excision route on my cheeks....expensive..but now they are gone.←

wheezy 0 Author Share Posted November 11, 2004 I definitely know it made my icepicks worse. They are more hollow. I am really sorry I did it. I think the one poster is right...it sands the skin smoother around the scars so that skin looks smoother so my icepicks look deeper. In fact I think it popped out some small ones that I didn't notice before:(
