derpface 38 Posted February 1, 2015 Thus is the world of accutane..I would just keep going with what your doc reccomended and keep your head up. This is a shitty time for me too but we still have some serious time left on this thing! we WILL win the battle!! (Or I will be pissed as all of hell....jk there is no OR)

MaryC 18 Posted February 1, 2015 Kim, I think you should stick to your dosage. It could be messing with you. Your body needs a certain time to adjust to it. According to me, it's too late anyway to skip the breakout from the upped dosage. I understand how you feel. Just tell yourself it's a hard moment to pass. By the way, the battle on my forehead has not been won yet.... I woke up with a small one by my hairline... It's nothing to compare with the ones I had earlier but it reminds me that it's not over. It's hard as hell but we have to stay positive!
kimber607 67 Posted February 1, 2015 Thanks Mary OK.so stick out the 75/50... probably makes sense..just to get this over with!!! IDK reading high doses cause more IB/breakouts lead to scaring..my main concern Ok..have a good weekend! kim
kimber607 67 Posted February 3, 2015 Hi all Think going to reduce me dose to 50mg Not about breakouts my forehead cleared up huge bright red dots on nose/bridge of my nose but whats troubling me are my eyes a few days ago one eye had a lot of gunk in the corner..I wear contacts so next 2 days I wore my glasses my eyes burning a little and a little still have green gunk in corner of my eyes...both bothered so idk call derm see an eye dr or wait 2 weeks follow up derm appt thoughts? Kim
MaryC 18 Posted February 4, 2015 Oh, that s*cks Kim! I think you should stop wearing your contacts for the moment and you should see and eye doctor if you think it's really bad. I hope it gets better very soon!
kimber607 67 Posted February 4, 2015 Thanks Mary I havent worn my contact is days since the one eye started to bother me and now they both hurt..always have gunk in the corner..eyelashes stick together..LOL they also burn a little so I decided to see the eye Dr tomorrow just to be sure (of course my derm didnt call me back) The breakouts im getting now are odd overnight they are BRIGHT red some flat and within maybe 2-3 days they are gone still concerned about red marks left behind but hoping this fun filled stage passes soon I figure even if I stay on 50mg a day for the duration of the treatment Ill be within normal range only other side effect is dry skin/lip s(finally caught up to me) hope everyone is doing well! DARYL54 0 Posted February 4, 2015 Hey guys ! Sorry for coming out of nowhere, but you guys seem to know a lot bout this accutane stuff and I'm wondering if my dosage(40 mg) is right for me. I'm 6'1" and 145-150lb. I just ended my fourth week n going into my fifth and as for right now, everything on my face seems manageable. should I be seeing atleast a small improvement? Or is it normal to not see much results at this stage. Also, is shedding hair normal ?
kimber607 67 Posted February 4, 2015 Hey D Yes shedding hair is normal It happened to me in the beginning but has slowed down a lot now that Im at 10 weeks As far as dosing that seems to vary a lot depending on your Dr/your weight Do u know if you Dr plans to increase your dose or keep u at 40m for the duration of the treatment? I weigh 130 pounds with mild but persistant acne on face only My dr initially put me on 20mg the first 2 weeks 40mg 4 weeks after that, than bumped me to 60mg and eventually wants me on 8-mg (which to me is a crazy high dose for my weight) Some Dr feel a lower steady dose is more tolerable but the duration of treatment with be longer which means more b/w, follow up visits and insurance may give u trouble Others feel a higher dose, if u can tolerate it will provide better results/less chance of relapse ..fewer follow up visits and b/w seems to be a matter of opinion maybe something to address with your Dr I know when I started I wanted low dose but i didnt have a real hard core plan with my Dr set up GL hope that was clear any other question I amy be able ot help with..lmk kim
En1gma 9 Posted February 4, 2015 Hey guys! Almost week 10! Nothing has changed, really. My chin is peeling awfully and a pesky pimple that stays forever ugh.
kimber607 67 Posted February 4, 2015 Hey!! sorry about the pesky pimple but glad things are still going well overall!! wooot-woooottttt Had eye dr appt today she said dry eyes due to tane and gunk is my eye trying ot produce more moisture she said stick with glasses or use a better solution and re-wetting eye drops no pink eye or eye infection she said if lid swells come back Blips are healing very quickly but still getting new ones in odd places the edge outside of my eyebrow I also look VERY red today....sticking with 50mg split for now kim
Redsweater 0 Posted February 5, 2015 Hi everyone! I read the first 9-10pages of the thread but it's too long to keep reading! Seemed like the best place to look for opinions and experience Thank you so much for writing about your experience. I'm taking 30 mg (I'm 117 lb), this is day 29, the day after tomorrow I'm going up to 50 mg. My initial breakout was (is) terrible. I have never had acne the way I have it now. Each pimple goes away fast with a little peeling around it, but many new ones come the day after. I have some cystic pimples now, even on my neck, that I never used to have. Anyway, since you guys started before me, any words of wisdom? Has anyone been so far into the treatment and still breaking out?
kimber607 67 Posted February 5, 2015 Hey Im Kim weight:130 Im also on 50mg now (25 split am/pm) and I am still breaking out I went through 3 pretty bad phases and now just small ones daily that come and go pretty quickly (but are still coming) The Dr I saw last visit (not my primary) said by 2 mnth u shouldnt be breaking out anymore but that seems to be B/S It seems 'most' people turn that magic corner around mnth 3-4 hang in there kim
MaryC 18 Posted February 5, 2015 Hi Redsweater! First of all, welcome and good luck to you. I am also still getting pimples, tough very small and less frequent. (I'm on day 85, 130 lbs, first 30 days on 30 mg and now on 60 mg). However, my skin really is better.. softer and smoother. The ones I get are nothing compared to those I had at the beginning. I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Don't give up, it will get better! Kim: I'm happy to know that's nothing too bad with your eye!
kimber607 67 Posted February 5, 2015 Thanks Mary! Glad all is going well for you too! IM sure you mentioned it before but does your Dr plan on increasing your dose or are u staying on 60 for the duration (how long will your treatment be?) I can see the light at the end of the tunnel also so many good things mixed with bad things My forehead cleared up than exploded..again I have about 6 small red bumps..so I hope thye go away and heal quickly its frustrating because my forehead wa never even a problem area CRAZY because my chin had one little blip since starting tane My cheeks havent broken out at all I had some nasty nasty bad ones under cheekbone and on the side of my face..but its been a while and that entire area has healed if it wasnt for my forehead I would be pretty darn happy interesting to see what will happen next! derpface 38 Posted February 5, 2015 Hey welcome RED! Here are my words of wisdom: screw the next five months! keep in mind that the next five months will involve your face looking like shit and that's just how it is...if it gets better before then great! if not THEN you could start bugging out..but the next five months you should just take as five months of hell. At least that's my perspective...I'm at the end of month 3 and while I haven't gotten anything new in about two weeks my face is still a massive dry red peely blotchy mess...It's not healing for shit and I swear I've had some of these zits for three weeks...I guess that's the name of the game. Keep your head up! we'll get there! Kim, glad to hear your eye-sitch worked out....
En1gma 9 Posted February 5, 2015 Ok i was all happy yesterday... But boom! Another pimple on my cheek and boom! On my chin. Ugh.
kimber607 67 Posted February 5, 2015 Sorry en1gma..I hear ya! feels like 1 step forward and 2 steps back... My forehead exploded..cleared and exploded again..never even break out on my forehead ever! On a positive note.....my chin..sides of both face are completely clear..hope i didnt jinx myself *thank you Thank you Thank you* as if I did something..LOL Im praying it stays this way and tane doesnt attack another part of my face after my forehead clears Hang in there all! kim
MaryC 18 Posted February 6, 2015 Kim: The Dr who prescribed me Accutane hasn't got any plan... She wrote me a prescription for 5 months and I will see her only if something bad happens. I just have the monthly blood work and no other follow-up. I know that s*cks. But I haven't been able to get a prescription for a derm (and I asked to at least 4 different doctors). anyway it's at least 8 months wait to see one derm. there are no private in my city or in the surroundings.... if I feel like it I will call her to add an extra month or to up my dosage but I don't feel like it now. maybe another month at 60 mg. I'm starting to worry about all the red marks that I'm left with... my face is full of them. Derp: I thought you were just about to start month 3! Will you be on it for 5 or 6 months?
kimber607 67 Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) Mary I think that's a good deal! U r still being monitored by monthly b/w without the hassle of an appt They are pretty useless and since your dose seems to be find as is...seems like a good plan I jinxed myself..forehead is healing but tiny red blip on left cheek so odd because my acne free zones (forehead and left side) are now where I'm getting breakouts when I didnt prior and my right side and chin are fine...NO SENSE TANE! and mary I am pretty bugged about all the red marks hoping they go away as Ive heard after stopping tane Kim Edited February 6, 2015 by kimber607
derpface 38 Posted February 6, 2015 Tane don't do the whole sense thing...tane do what it wants...
kimber607 67 Posted February 6, 2015 tane is a little bitch...LOL I want to smack it around today Grrrrrr
MaryC 18 Posted February 7, 2015 Argh I'm so pissed off with every new little one! I want them off my face! It seems like I get one every two days. Arghhhhhh!!!! I would still like to see a derm to have the opinion of a specialist but I'll have to do without. I'm so looking forward to the day I will say there was nothing new on my face for a week!! its funny tough how flat my skin is getting lately.
En1gma 9 Posted February 7, 2015 Ugh im really getting tired of this. Ive got a pinful pimple on my cheek, another one on that same cheek that has been there for at least two weeks, ive got another two on my chin. It sucks, it really doEs. Two days ago my skin was all clear, except for that old one. My forehead is clear, but progress is soooo slow. I knew it was going to be slow since im on 20 mg a day, but its frustrating! Tonight imma pop those on my chin cause my chin heals quick, but my cheeks dont. Everything just sucks so bad. My bday is in two weeks and i dont want to have a pizza face on my birthday
kimber607 67 Posted February 7, 2015 sorry ladies im right there with ya..very frustrating!! For me its ridiculous that my forehead is a war zone and it was never ever an issue so it cant be pushing out years of gunk..anyway..who knows I hear ya Mary...but I would assume all a Dr would say is to wait it out....progress is slow and coming or increase your dose (is that something u would consider) Could u call your Dr and discuss over the phone what is going on (the dr that prescribed the meds) Im actually afraid because i am still breaking out (though small but quit often) afraid they are going to badger me again about increasing to 8mg for now Im trying 50/50/75 or 50/50/50/75 I took 75 mg yesterday and my eyes are a wreck..lots gunk..was told not to rub my eyes...but i dont know how else to get the crap out..I cant see! so Im not sure this is even going to work if not and they continue to argue with me I may just take the 75mg script but take 50mg until I am done with my pills *sigh* Im seeing family tomorrow I havent sen in a while My mom knows im on tane so dumb but i feel like she is going to look at me like Im crazy....like isnt this med supposed to be helping my skin I stopped using moisturizer Im only using a hydrating toner and serum My skin is TIGHT but not flaking so Im going to hold out Hang in there everyone have a good weekend!
