Ok so I haven't had many break outs since starting birth control but I developed a good size bump on my chin. It was an 'under the skin' type and not coming to a head so I figured I needed to leave it alone and try not to pop it. After about a week it went down in size and I was happy to see it healing. But then a few days later, overnight, it got really big in size and red and swore but still no head. I waited a few days, applying antibacterial cream at night. Today I decided to prick it with a needle to see if I could drain it. The entire bump seemed to have become hardened layers of skin and now I have like a hole in the middle of all the hard/dead layers of skin. I squeezed and barely any pus came out. Now it's just been draining a lot of blood and then clear ooze and the entire area around it under the skin is swollen and numb. What is going on here? What is this thing? I've had a lot of pimples and none ever like this! I'm worried it's infected. What should i do? I cleaned it and put antibacterial cream and took ibuprofen. I'm worried the infection is on the inside now. Please help!
Looks to me like that is a cystic acne. Call your dermatology office and see if they can get you in for a cortisone shot. That will help bring down the swelling. I would avoid picking and popping this any further and hopefully you can avoid any scarring this may cause.
A good rule of thumb, if you pop your zits, stop squeezing once blood comes to the surface. Just get the puss out of it and stop right after that.
