Hey guys! DAY 1
I've literally only just found this site after taking my first 30mg dose of accutane and its been insanely helpful in letting me know what to expect, so I thought it was only fair for me to do a log too! I have struggled with acne for about three years now, with many various trips to the doctors and trying loads of different lotions and potions which had no use. I remember I even had one doctor who whenever I went for a checkup shouted at me saying it was my diet and I shouldn't eat any chocolate (and I'm by no means overweight). After many attempts, and many doctors appointments crying my eyes out to the doctors I was referred to the NHS dermatologists. Stupidly, they said in my area I'd have to wait 6 months for am appointment (by this point I was pretty desperate) so my parents used my health insurance to go privately. No joke, the dermatologist took me really seriously (probs cause he gets paid tons) and straight away allowed me to go on accutane! Woo! I am continuing on dianette whilst on the drug so it may hopefully reduce my initial break out. I'm quite nervous to take the pill, but after many years of suffering and horrible comments, even from children noticing it, I just can't wait to get rid of it hopefully. I know compared to others my acne is not TOO severe at the moment, and dianette has actually helped a lot but my self confidence is at its lowest and I don't even care about the side effects much, this acne has caused me enough grief!
Day 2: feeling pretty good today! Excited to be FINALLY on the treatment, obviously side effects haven't had time to kick in yet except for chapped lips which is a bit of a pain. Is anyone able to suggest any good lip balms? I normally use Vaseline but I'm guessing I might need something stronger considering the state my lips are in already!
If you were on an antibiotic and a product like differin before most likely you wont have a HUGE intial breakout.... my doctor explained the intial breakout results from the gunk being pushed up, resulting in hard little bumps under the skin and antibotics and products like differin theoretically clear that problem.

Thanks so much for the help, you guys are great!
Today hasn't been a great day, suffering with dry eyes and been feeling a bit faint and dizzy all day really! I'm meant to be going paint balling all day on Sunday so not sure if I should be doing it!! My acne is still just as bad, and it doesn't seem like my face is even drying out yet which is super disappointing as I have a job interview on Thursday !!
Xx
Pimples that were already present will get worse as they are coming to head- but they will dry up a lot faster now, going into this i know that im not going to see results for about 1-2 months. Im gonna be on it for 6 months wau?
Ugh that sucks but worth it in the long run I just need to be patient! My derm didn't say, I've been prescribed three months worth but he said he review it in my appointment next month! good luck x
Lucky, the doctor said that I am being put on it- a month ago. Just so much shit you have to go through in the US to get it. And lol I wouldn't miss a paintball tournament, or even a game for my life. Hopefully Ill start it soon though. My acne was 3 times worse as your, all cystic acne across my checks, Pimples would last months if i didn't do anything about it. But now its clearing up? Im not sure but my face has really been getting better to call it light (not counting the tens of scars and hyper pigmentation marks across my face). hopefully the doctor doesn't screw me hahaha- I think its the differn cream he gave me... but nonetheless i still want to go on it, to kill the sucker for ever
The joys of makeup! Yes it's terrible for your skin but I never wear it normally and tonight I'm out for pizza with the girlies! I'm just so glad I'm on accutane and no matter how annoying these spots are I'm hopefully being healed!! Thing is though my spots really armt terrible so I'm not sure i should even be on roacutane as its such a harsh drug
Sooo... Day 10 of accutane. I think I got my hopes up too much with this pill, I thought it would be Woking by now but I fact my skin is more oily, and my spots are more inflamed. Plus I've been feeling really over emotional, and generally had a drop in self esteem.
I have three days of walking 50 kilometres for my d of e expedition ( which is a trek I have already done the practise for ) so it may be really hard with our huge heavy rucksacks especially since my muscles ache from these pills already.
At the moment I wish I never started this pill and just continued solely on dianette
Day 16...
So it's been two weeks since I've started, my camping trip went well and I passed my award, expect my back is still aching and my lips tingle 24/7, no amount of Vaseline is saving that. My acne isn't even clearing up properly, it's probably got worse and spots have been appearing in places I haven't had them before...
How long did people have to wait until results started to be visible, I feel like giving up these pills already (((
Waa:((
Hey Girl!
I'm 16 too and have been on Roaccutane since April 2013. My acne was pretty severe and it's worked wonders. It's a pretty amazing treatment and I wish you all the best. If you have any questions about side effects etc, let me know!
Maria
P.S: This is a before and after (April 2013 to November 2013) picture. I'm not finished treatment until next year but how awesome are the results already?!
