I went to the derm today and he put me on minocycline. Anyone have good results on this? I was told to take 1 100mg pill a day between breakfast and lunch. I guess it's not good to eat and take this at the same time. I figured I would make this post and give everyone heads-up on my progress. I take a pic and post it soon, with progress.

Oh, I paid $48 at my local drug store for it but found it on drugstore.com for $21, damn-it.

I am also in the same boat as you... I just started Minocycline about 3 weeks ago. My derm. gave me 100mg twice a day, and I'm also using Differin in my regime (apply before bedtime).

I am noticing less breakouts in my 3rd week, but during week 1 and 2 I broke out a bit... so don't be bummed out if you breakout in the first week or so... The derm. is putting me on this regime for 3 months.. and if it doesn't work by Dec. then I get to go on Accutane smile.gif

Good-luck to you smile.gif

my derm put me on 200 mg a day for 2 weeks and then down to 100 mg a day. it cleared me with in a week! it was great. i did have dizziness for the whole time i was taking it (about 3 weeks). now that i'm clear i don't take mino anymore. i just stick to my regimen (dan's reg. + retin a micro every other night). i would recommend starting a regimen (i love dan's!) and sticking with it. once you are clear you can stop taking the mino and stay clear with your regimen. anti-biotics aren't good to be on for too long.

Hey J.Baker, so you didnt get the roaccutane. I was on Minocycline before and I think it was about the only antibiotic that made a slight improvement. When I wemt to the specialist derm he told me that Minocycline was the only antbiotic that was effective with acne, he basically told me that the others are rubbish and I might as well be popping vitamins. Anyway the Minocycline never cleared me up much and I went off it because I had been on it for a long time. Though these drugs work differently on individuals, some have success and some dont. I hope it works for you.

Anyway Im just curious about your condition. Whats your acne like? What other treatments have you tried? Only asking this because I think it was you that mentioned on my success thread that you had acne for many many years. Mine was persistant and the only thing that helped me 100% was roaccutane.

No accutane this time, my derm said to try this method before going on accutane.

Well, most of my acne is on my face. I have very few pimples on my back and chest. Use to be alot worse when I was younger. I basically get acne from my head down to my legs but as I said, it's very minimal from the neck down.

Here's a pic of my face. Just took it today.

I take 100mg of mino twice a day. I've been doing this for about 2 and a half months now. The minocyclin by itself never seemed to do anything, but I also have been uding it in combination with differin for the same amount of time. I'm in my 11-12 week and I am 99.9% clear and haven't had really any new zits for about 4 weeks. Just thought I would share my success with mino.
