I was laid off about a month ago and in my last job people where talking about me all the time. my mom told me today that when i turn 21 i'll be on my own which sound's great, i don't want to be that 35 yo guy in his mothers basement. i want my own place, independence, all that good stuff. i'm not afraid of dealing with the real world just without the acne. i don't need that shit in my life, i'd rather be in my house all day, currently the only time i go out is to a fast food place drive threw of course or my local cvs but that's it, a quick in and out. my mom is being more then tolerable, she say's i either need to get a job or go to school both of which involve being around people =(. But i just want to stay at home until my acne goes away just a bit more let it fade just a tad more, i can deal with the open pores but anything more then that just brings to much unwanted attention. i'v already have has horrible experiences with this and i just don't want to anymore period and if i force myself to do anything. i know for a fact i'll continue to be ridiculed and my life will fell like shit not that it's new but i'm just tiered of it. so i really don't know what the hell to do. i'm really just waiting for this one particular scab to fade away which i mentioned in one of my post's on the scars section. once that's gone i fell i will finally look decent enough to go do something, i'm hoping it goes away in a few weeks a month at max this sucks...

visit a derm instead of treating it alone. In the mean time increase ur zinc/vitamin A intake.

You should go to school. College isn't as bad as you'll think it is. Especially if you take night classes...it's usually older people and so they most likely won't care about your acne. I take both night and day and most people are friendly and could care less what you look like.

You should go to school. Staying inside all day and barely venturing out is not going to help you. I know how you feel--I considered dropping out of school for a semester because of my acne. I felt like it was so bad and I was so ashamed. I didn't want anyone to see me. But I continued with school, pushed through the breakout and now I'm so glad I didn't come home.

People go to college to learn. They don't go to judge other people based on what they look like. I've seen so many people with acne at my own university - mild to severe, all types. I never see anyone make comments or stare at them.

If you don't do anything and just stay in your house all day, your attitude about your acne will only get worse. You'll have nothing to do, nothing to focus on, so you'll focus on your skin. At least if you are in school, you'll have something to work towards and keep you busy. Your acne won't get better quicker if you stay inside all day. In fact, if you get your mind off it a bit and stop stressing, I'm sure it'll get better faster.

I know how difficult acne can be, but don't let it rule your life. If you pursue your education it'll help you in the long run. When your acne's gone, you'd look back and regret it if you didn't do something with your time.

You could consider working from home. That's what I do. Although I do have another job too.

Yeah i wish i could but i have no idea how to do that & i know for a fact that the work at home products are almost all scams. i keep getting those stupid fake money checks in the mail in exchange for a fee to get it sent. i fell like sending them one of those toys bills with the message "keep the change =)" LOL that would teach em!

visit a derm instead of treating it alone. In the mean time increase ur zinc/vitamin A intake.

I don't fell the need to do that because my skin has slowly been improving by itself, i wont risk it getting worse because of a stupid mistake like trying on the wrong product.. no i just need it to fade away naturally just on one more scab and a few others for now. Afterward my skin can continue to heal itself more but with me being happy with it in the meantime. just a little while longer i'm guessing

I guess once my skin heals i little more i'm going to hit the books once more, want to do something with technology because that's here to stay no doubt. yep just a little more & i should be fine by next month maybe a little before then

I agree with perhaps going back to school and studying something that you personally find interesting. Who knows, maybe you'll meet people who are going through skin issues.

Don't wait

That's what I did.... I told myself I'll go back out when my acne goes away. Then I told myself I'll go out when my hyper pigmentation goes away. Worst mistake of my life , One, I still have hyper pigmentation and two by the time It did get somewhat better developed OCD & BDD and have very high anxiety In public .

I'm not saying you will turn out that way but It's possible. My case was a little extreme....I avoided going out AT ALL COSTS , If you can roll through a drive thru window and get a whopper you can walk Into a classroom with a hoody and some glasses on and nobody will think twice. Even If your redness does go away you're still going going to through a phase of insecurity , nervousness and what not.

I don't think you have to go to school if you don't want to. I freakin' hated school. If it makes you happy, go. But there is no one forcing you and you can certainly make good money and have a good life without ever going to school.

I work from home as well. I make things and sell them on the internet. But if you're not creative, there's always like selling stuff on ebay. My mom actually does antiques on ebay and does well. There is a lot of scams online so you do need to be careful.

And just my opinion, but you shouldn't hold off parts of your life because of hyperpigmentation or acne. Trust me from experience that it sucks putting parts of your life on hold because of how you look. Each birthday since I turned 25 I have had the hope it would be "this year" that my acne and hyperpigmentation went away....but each year comes and goes and for many of those years I held off things I wanted and dreamed of doing because of how I look. I'm 30 now and I wasted too much time hoping that I would have ok skin. Plus...not interacting with people (for me at least) really makes me self esteem so much lower. When you begin to interact with people and see they could care less about your skin it makes living out in public a little easier.

It's your choice to spend your time waiting or going to school. I completely understand why you want to wait. I'm actually graduating this year and considering just picking my diploma and not attending the actual graduation.

Put this real simple

You want independence then you need to learn to accept and deal with your acne. The more you stay in the more you want to stay in.

People talking about. Why let that bother you? Who gives a crap what these people say or think? Not everyone is going to like you that is a fact of life and you shouldn't that bother you.

It is easier said than done but you just have to get out there and start living. Acne or no acne you have to make that step or you will be the 35 year old in your mothers basement.

Go see a dermatologist or family doctor and get professional advice. I don't know how many times I tried on my own to fix my skin, believing that cleanses, or products, or just leaving it alone, will magically heal it. Hey, you don't have to use anything they suggest if you don't want to. But if you are already at the point where you are not living your life by hiding away that believe me, force yourself to get help. You may be just waiting for that hyperpigmentation to fade, or the next cyst to heal, but more than likely you will just have another problem to deal with. I believe part of the hopelessness results in people not wanting to leave the house, even to get help from dermatologists. See it as part of the problem and get help.

Hello again guy's well, a little update on the situation... uh ok well i'v really just been chilling at home for like a month now.i go out to my local stores once in a while but that's about it, at night when the sun isn't out of course. what i'm trying to do is slowly get out there little by little, in facing people again & in the mean time the healing can continue as well. i still have money left over from my last check, before i got laid off so i think i can float around a while longer. my skin has improved a little, and i haven't decided if i'm gonna use something on my skin yet. But honestly i rather not risk it & just let my skin handle it naturally. I think i might call my local community college but, man idk i mean high school really did a number on me left me kinda traumatized even in my last job a was being made fun of, sigh the waiting game continues...
