What To Do When Your Derm Says No To Spiro

I have received many personal messages recently asking about spiro and what to do when you have a dermatologist who doesn't want to prescribe it.

First option:

Your derm tells you that spiro is unsafe and tries to get you to take birth control pills instead.

Ask your derm if they will prescribe Yaz or Yasmin birth control for acne. If they say yes, whip out this quote:

YAZ contains 3 mg of the progestin drospirenone that has antimineralocorticoid activity, including the potential for hyperkalemia in high-risk patients, comparable to a 25-mg dose of spironolactone.
