First Time Applying Lactic Acid, Red Mark Now Bigger And More Red?

Recommended Posts

I put 50% lactic acid on a single red mark last night for 5 min then neutralized with baking soda. It instantly frosted last night but today I woke up with a larger red mark as it seems the lactic acid went beyond where I intended it to go. I used a q-tip to apply this by the way. Since then I've been applying polysporin on it to keep it from getting infected while it heals.

As of right now it looks 5x worse than before I applied the acid. Here is my concern: How do I know if there is still more peeling to be done? Has the peeling effectively ended once there is nothing but a red mark? As in, I do not see any dead skin or frosting anymore. It is simply a bigger red mark. I am really hoping someone will tell me that it is going to continue peeling for a few days at least, hopefully resulting in a lightened colour.

Please share your advice. Thanks.
