Thanks for the reply guys! Least I know that I'm not crazy or have glandular or whatever.

Kelso, I'm not in the fourth month like you but I am in my third. I increased my dosage three weeks ago and from having clear skin in my second month, I suddenly got a major cyst plus a handful of smaller whitehads. Sucks balls but s'all good. At least I know the roaccutane is working for me.

And damn! I went to the dentist today for a cleaning...most uncomfortable thing ever!!! Holding your mouth open as your lips dry out in a second flat then feel streched out like a drum skin while the assistant sucks out whatever sweet moisture you need so you don't feel like such a cotton-mouthed twat, sitting in a dental chair with essentially two strangers in your mouth! And when he was finished I had to sit there with dry as F lips as he talked and talked about me going to a specialist. Couldn't even reach for my lip balm :boohoo:

I know. Whinge blah whinge blah (It felt good though :) ) Moral of the story, keep your lip balm in your hands when you go to the dentist so that you can reapply as soon as, and whenever, you get the chance. Don't believe me? Well hold your mouth open wide for 20 minutes or so and imagine someone vacuuming the moisture out.

Xo :D

Ohhh that sounds horrible :( Being without my lip balm for more than 15 minutes these days is the worst.

For anyone else going to the dentist, tell them beforehand that you are on accutane! That's what I did for my cleaning/filling and they just put vaseline on my lips throughout for me. If you're embarrassed about accutane, just say you're on a medication that causes dry lips, it's pretty common. They'll understand.

so is it ok to break out a tiny bit in middle of month 4?

i break out a tiny bit now and then but i do not mind. the accutane pretty much clears it in a day.

anyone getting night sweats??

Of the "hot and heavy" nature? Unfortunately no....

I kid, I kid! :D Actually I have a bit, but it might be cos it's getting a lil bit warmer here.

Do you guys get these cysts...but they never develop into a head. They're just large raised bumps that can't be popped and won't go away.

I'm pretty fucking bummed out. I'm on day 102 and over the past couple days I've gotten two pretty large pimples, one right after the other. I've seen some improvements lately, so I thought I was finally progressing after months of no results, but this whole two steps back thing is really screwing with my head. The fact that I'm still breaking out into month 4 is really disheartening, and my slow progress makes me want to stay on for 6 months instead of 5 (like my derm wants). My experience with Accutane this time around is so different from my previous two courses - I cleared up very rapidly, never had an IB, and once I was clear I didn't break out again for the rest of the course and about a year following each course - so I don't know what to make of what's going on. I'm really curious as to why I'm responding so differently this time around, and it makes me worried that I won't have long-term results because I'm not responding too well this far into my course. Anyway, I've been icing the new pimples to take down the swelling (not really noticing a difference, though), but I guess I was wondering what you guys do with new breakouts: leave them be or take action? If you take action, what do you use?

I don't take action because i have really sensitive skin and i don't wanna irritate it anymore than it already is... also can anyone PLEASE reccomend a moisturizer thats working for them? cause seriously! at night i use moisturizer and jojoba oil to the point where i'm much more oily looking that i ever would be normally, then during the day i like staying matte but if i don't apply enough moisturizer than i get SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO dry! like seriously! i need a super moisturizer that won't make me look oily, but won't leave me dry... hmm so if anyone has that can they tell me what it is?

man wtf I would be pissed as well. what is the derm saying about your situation. I would ask them why your acne comes back after two great and successful courses of accutane, and also why it's not working now. I do hope you get better!

Day 68 status: All dryness no improvement.

Went for bloods and they were saying I should have seen something by this point (I've been full dosage from the start) and might have to extend my treatment. Sucks.

IMONTGOM- wow, that sucks so bad! My 3rd course is different than my previous ones also. What is up with us?! So frustrating. I personally have resolved that I will most likely be going on a 4th course eventually. :(

think im on day 62 moved upto 65mg last week was doing 50 for a week or two before that and had started out on 35, face is grand, just few bits and pieces here and there barely noticeable, back clear, chest still dodgy, neck rough enough. Dryness is ridiculous, and lips are very bad too. Got eczema on my arms too (very noticeable on right arm, hardly any on left).

Back to derm on monday, third last visit i think :)

I'm so sorry to hear that.

Sounds like everyone is having a rough time. Me too. Almost done with 2 months and I've been breaking out this whole second month. My side effects are very strong, the dry eyes in particular are almost unbearable. Not sure what to do...

Sigghhhhhhh... How are other people staying positive? I'm having a really really hard time, especially with the side effects cutting into my regular life and no clear skin to show for any of it :(
