!Shaving with Accutane!

Recommended Posts

Hi people, i am currently on accutane/ro-accutane/isotretition (whatever you want to freekin call it)

anyway I have found shaving a little bit of a struggle, i mean because the skin is so fragile and red and irritated and dry, shaving cannot help the situation surely. Anyway at the moment ii am shaving with wilkinson sword hydro blade and hydro shave gel to try to hydrate my skin as much as possible. This seems to be working ok but i still get breakout after shaving, ahhh sooo annoying

what do you guys think of electric shaving on accutane? ie without water and shave gel. or even beard trimming? i always thought avbout beard trimming because presumably that would cause the least amount of irritation no????? But it would leave more hair on the face which would possibly lead to more breakouts i guess???? Also when you are applying moisturiser all the time because of the accutane i guess its not ideal to be applying it to a hairy face haha.

anyway share your advice comments and experience guys

I currently use a philips electric razor (rotary). I've been shaving more and more often (now down to about 2-3 days) and it seems to be working as I'm almost clear. I did try a couple of beard trimmers a while ago and they irritated my skin. :S

I haven't had a problem the last few times i've shaved

maybe my skins getting used to it or maybe i've just been lucky.

Best advice is to go slow and clean the razor a lot of the time

I shave down and then up not pushing against the skin.

Shaving on accutane is hell. The skin is fragile and dry which really is a bad combination for shaving. Maybe you should try a trimmer.
