Regimen and flaking in hairline

Hi all,

I started the regimen around two months ago and have been having decent success. The amount of acne I'm getting is diminishing over time. I had initial face flaking which was pretty intense and still do flake a little bit, however I'm getting some INTENSE flaking in my eyebrows and on my hairline (both above and to the sides of my face). Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions? Does it go away? It's like really bad dandruff, so this evening I'm not going to pull my hair back as the hair next to my temples is pretty yucky. I've tried moisturizer into the hair. I regularly wash my hair with Selsun Blue which controls possible seborrheic dematitic flaking.

I really hope someone else knows what I'm taking about. I've done extensive searching and, as far as I can see, it's not a huge issue with many people.

Thanks for any help!

Yes, most likely you're experiencing Seborrhoeic dermatitis and it has nothing to do with the regimen. As for that Selsun Blue you're talking about, which one you're using? The one you can buy without a prescription (selenium disulfide (1%) --> pretty useless if you ask me) or the one you could only get with a prescription (selenium disulfide (2.5%) --> might be of some help)

Anyway, as this might well be the case, if selenium disulfide doesn't work for you, try with a Ketoconazole based shampoo, gives almost no side effects and works pretty fast and effectively. Use on eyebrows as well and see how it goes.

If nothing else should work, you might want to get a prescription for some light corticosteroid, although steroids come at a price which will eventually take a toll on your health (be very careful with steroids even if they work as a charm for that skin condition).

hope this helps, cheers.

Oh. Hell.

I get that too, lots of flakes by my side burn area and the edge of my forehead.

Since i don't usually break out there i just kind of rub it off or pick the flakes off (which is probably bad)

it doesn't really bother me though since my hair cut covers most of it

Not really sure how to help

What is going on with my face is not seborrheic dermatitis. My reasoning is that it is not the same as what was on my head before Selsun Blue got rid of that completely. My hairline flaking began once I got half a month into the DKR. I'm wondering if it is expected to persist, whether it's just because of the more sensitive skin there. As someone else mentioned, it really is in the sideburns area, my eyebrows, and the hairline above my forehead. Thanks for all the replies. It's good to know this is happening to others.

Could you elaborate on that one?

Firstly, my scalp was really really itchy. When I felt it with my fingers, the itchy spots would be where a lump of dead skin was. The little lumps pulled off easily and could be yellowish in colour.

On my face, my flakes are very much like general face flakes from when I started the regimen. They're always white, not lumpy in the least, and can be quite large in size when I pull them out of my hair and eyebrow hairs.

As well, never before the regimen have I experienced this to this extent. I did experience overall flaking similar to the facial flaking when I was on topical retinoids, but not such localized flaking.

My reasoning is that it is not the same as what was on my head before Selsun Blue got rid of that completely.

Could you elaborate on that one?
