Starting Regime, Few Questions

Recommended Posts

Hello helpful people.

I am a 26 yr old guy who had a bunch of acne as a teen and now i am left with really bad scars, PIH, and some rare acne. To get a clear face I have decided to use the Regime. I also found out that using EMU oil can help me get rid of the scars.

My problem is that I can not wake up and do the regime as I am always rushing to the office.

SO:

1) Is it ok If I use the cleanser and the moisturizer in the morning and not BP.

2) then come home at 5 pm and do the regime.

3) apply EMU oil an hour later.

4) Do the regime again at 12:00

5) apply emu oil again after an hour

I am just trying to fit in the regime and EMU oil from 5 pm - midnight. Can someone please help me figure it out?

- Is it ok to use EMU oil ater the regime? how long should i wait?

- Can I do the regime, emu and then go work out? will sweat effect this?

please help me build a schedule. I just wanna get rid of these stupid scars.

thanks guys:))

Hi and welcome.

I'm going to make this easy.

No, to all of your questions. :)

The Regimen works best if you follow it exactly as Dan says to. Do not switch or skip steps, don't add in extra products, do not change the times, etc. etc. etc.

Just follow it precisely for best results and use only products he suggests. If you do other things and use other products, you may not see optimal results and the "what to expect" will not apply to you. It only applies to people who are following the Regimen strictly. http://www.acne.org/whattoexpect.html

As for sweat, read here: http://www.acne.org/faq.html#sweat

For your time problem in the mornings, get up earlier so you will have plenty of time to do this right. We want to help you clear up but if you aren't willing to do it right, then you can't expect great results. Give it an honest effort.

Hope that helps and good luck!

You may use Emu oil as a moisturizer anytime of the day to aid in healing scars etc..it will not cause clogged pores...so not to worry...best to cleanse and tone....treat and repair...moisturize and protect(spf) during the day ...and same routine in the evening except you can use a moisturizer without spf at night such as Emu oil.....for best results.....

Not if they're following the Acne.org regimen, though, as Brandy explained. ; )

Thank you everyone.

Brandy: I woke up early today and did the regime and it seems like I can do it everyday. So thanks for that :)

As far as EMU oil is concerned, I am really worried about my scars and that's why I want to use it. Will the regime treat my scars too? (So that I can leave EMU oil alone)

I was wondering If microdermabrasion can be done during the Regime. Cause I hate these scars :l

Also I have the same question about the brown patches on my face. Someone recommended Retin A and hydroquinone. What do you guys think?

Thanks Again!!!

I'm glad to hear your morning went well. :)

I know you are concerned about your scars and red marks but you need to be patient. You must get the acne under control first before you can focus on treatments for those other issues. Here's what Dan says about wanting to add in other things. http://www.acne.org/faq.html#additionalproducts

Here's his red mark page. http://www.acne.org/faq.html#redmarks

And here's his scar page. http://www.acne.org/scars.php

As for microdermabrasion, Dan doesn't recommend it because it is irritating. Remember that irritation can exacerbate acne, so you want to be super gentle with your skin. http://www.acne.org/faq.html#microdermabrasion

I'm not sure what you mean about brown patches on your face, but do not use hydroquinone at the same time as bp. http://www.acne.org/faq.html#lighten

As for Retin-A, you'll need to see a Dermatologist to find out if that is a good option for you, however if you are just starting out with the Regimen it will be a confusing factor if you add it in right away. http://www.acne.org/faq.html#prescriptions

Dan discusses his experience with Retin-A on this page. http://www.acne.org/my-acne-treatment-history.html

I hope that helps.

Thanks a lot. I guess I will be patient and just work on getting acne under control first. In your experience, how long do you think it will take for to see some results?

I don't have too much of it anyway. just some small acne that pops out once in a while.

When would i know that acne is totally under control and i can move on to treating my scars ?
