REGIMEN + PICTURES

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, so I FINALLY decided to join the message boards and start the acne.org regimen. I'll share a little bit about me with everyone, so I've had acne for the past 4 years and it has expanded to my neck, chest, back and ever my stomach and arms above my elbows. For now, I am only going to be doing the regimen for my face, and if it clears my face I will use Dans regimen for body acne too. I would start the body acne regimen right now too, but I live in Canada and the products get a bit to pricey for me with the shipping and I don't want to waste money on them, so I'll see if my face clears with this stuff first. I am currently 17 years old, and my background is south Asian. I am currently still waiting for Dans BP to arrive, but I got Neutrogena On The Spot because I was down in Washington last week. I plan on updating my progress and pictures every week, so far i have been on the regimen for 1 day, but the first day I only used it during night time, today I will be using it twice because I am home all day, and tmw I can only use it once because I have to go somewhere in the evening. I plan on using the gel twice a day, but for now with neutrogena on the spot im only going to use it twice if i dont have to go anywhere because it leaves white stuff on my face.

In the past, I have tried numerous creams and was on antibiotics for a very long time. I was on tetracycline for over a year and towards the end is stopped working. My doctor put me on another antibiotic, i think it was doxycycline, i took that for 2-3 months, but i stopped after seeing no results. I was also on minocycline last year, but for a very short period of time, so I think I might give that another shot. I have been to the dermatologist 3 times before in the past, and I have another appointment coming up soon. I am currently not on any antibiotics.

What Im Using:

Spectrojel

Neutrogena on the spot ... it will be Acne.org BP Soon

Complex 15 Face Cream

anyways here are the pics :(

BEFORE STARTING REGIMEN

Sorry im covering my eyes, i dont went anyone i know to recognize me  :$

I've also got a couple of questions if anyone can help me out

1. What moisturizer should I switch to that is available in Canada?

2. Should I go on Minocycline? I dont really like the idea of being on longterm antibiotics and im scared that my acne might become worse once i stop taking them or become resistant. What do you guys think?

Day 3:

I decided to give a small update right now. So I've been on the regimen for 3 days now and my skin is very dry, and itchy right now which was to be expected, no improvement in acne right now. My face looks horrible right now, since my skin is a darker tone, it doesn't really turn red so much, but turns darker. But all of this dryness will go away within 2 weeks...hopefully :).

Heya buddy, you and I have killed about the same number of days. I've noticed that my face seems redder and shinier, but I've also noticed that ALL of my zits have dried up and flatten out, 'cept one or two. They say the redness (or I guess darkness in your case lol) can last up to 5 months, but hopefully it cools down before then!

Anyways good luck on your journey!

and 5 months? i don't think it can last 5 months, are you talking about the marks from acne? the marks can last up to five months, but i was referring to the areas were my skin gets irritated from the BP and drys out, that should only last 2 weeks according to the What To Expect page

anyways, i wish you all the best on your journey as well :)

Day 5

I'll put up some pictures soon maybe this weekend, but my skin still looks horrible and it feels even worse. The acne.org BP still hasn't arrived and its been over 2 weeks, I ordered through First Class Mail and it said it should be here in 1-3 weeks and it'll be 3 weeks on Monday. I hope nothing bad happened to my package like got lost in the mail. I'm kind of worried about it, im praying it gets here asap  because i only have 1 tube of neutrogena on the spot left and they dont sell it here in canada and im not going to the u.s anytime soon. Also, i switched my facewash to spectrojel and i switched my moisturizer to complex 15 face cream and i add jojoba oil to it.

Day 10 (with pictures) :

Alright, so I'm on day 10 now and I believe my acne has gotten worse. I got a few new pimples on my temples, and the sides of my face have more acne too. Also, my skin feels very dry from the bp and I'm still slowly increase the amount I use. I am STILL using neutrogena on the spot because Dan's bp hasn't arrived yet:(. It was been 3 weeks today, the method I ordered through said it will be here in 1-3 weeks, but customer support said it sometimes takes 4 weeks too. I just hope I get it within this week because I don't have much netrogena on the spot left. This was the first time I order something from Dan and so far it hasn't been a bad experience. Other than that, my life sucks I had a little family get together yesterday and everyone was commenting on my skin like "what happend to your face:O?" "Your acne still hasn't gotten better?" or "Don't worry, everything will be fine soon." Furthermore, I've also been doing those jojoba oil massages to get rid of flakes, and they work pretty well andd oh yeahh, i've missed ONE full day of the regimen, i only applied mosturizer that day and night due to the dryness. I'm counting on Dan's BP to arrive before my neutrogena on the spot finishs.

and i kno, i suck at taking pictures of myslef:P

Hang in there, everyone's skin is different. It sometimes takes a while to get used to the BP. And everyone also "purges" at different times. You're prolly doing it early!

It's too early, try not to get discouraged! :) My skin seemed to start purging around Day 10 also, and my skin was definitely worse than my Day 1. Just keep at it and try to keep a positive attitude and a good outlook on the Regimen. I hope things start clearing up for you really soon.

Its taking so long for the regimen to work:(. I feel so discouraged and my skin is really dry. I was about to give up on the regimen today, but then i thought, its only been 23 days. I think i'll give the regimen 10 more days and if I don't see improvement im going to quit.

its hard being patient:P, it feels like i've been doing the regimen for so long, but then i count the days and its only day 38, and thats not long at all, for school, my plan is to just go to class and then go home, i've only got 3 classes each semester, so im praying i get 4th period lunch and then 5 period spare so i'll be done school at 12:30

but even if i dont, im going home for lunch and spare anyways so i can avoid everyone

Hey MysteriousMe,

Yeah, sometimes things truly get worse, before they get better. I've seen countless products that claim to have your skin "acne free" in 30 days - that's just not possible, unless your acne is so mild, it's almost nonexistent. Sometimes people have a little harder time adjusting to the BP, too. I’ve used some form of BP throughout my battle with acne, so my face wasn’t too bothered with Dan’s BP. I never used so much, but it works!

Stick to the regimen for a bit longer – I was clear in about two months, and finally got one new zit last week, which has been the only breakout I’ve gotten in about four months. I can handle one zit. ;)

Also, we are truly are own worst critic. I might have been having a really bad acne day (back when I had it!), but people would tell me how nice my skin looked. I was always like, “What the? Have you actually looked at my face?!†My sister, who has perfect skin, would get a few tiny zits every once and a great while, and she would always say, “I wish my skin looked like yours right now.†I laughed. My skin was so horrible! How could she say that?

Now that my acne is gone, I have a few minor scars – I know exactly where they are, and they bug me. But, apparently people can’t see them. I was at work the other day, and I was standing by the window, in daylight; scars show so badly in this light. This guy walked up to me, and said I had some of the most beautiful skin he’s ever seen. My friend was asking me about acne, as she broke out around her mouth. I told her my entire saga, and what she should do. I told her how horrible my acne used to be, and she replied, “And yet you didn’t scar from it! I guess you got really lucky.†Again, what the? Are they actually looking at my skin?

People look at you, look at your face, and it is never as bad as we think it is.

I know it’s hard to face people when you have acne, but don’t become too antisocial about it. I did, and I can honestly say I didn’t experience high school, because I went to class, went home for lunch, went straight home after class, and didn’t go out with anyone – ever. You don’t want that. Trust me. Now antisocialism has become an everyday part of my life – I actually hate going out. Hate it! It has become a lifestyle habit, as I continued to do this from the 7th grade, until recently (I’m now 23).

You will beat this. Have hope. :)

Thats really encouraging acgerstenberger. I agree with everything you said about us being our worst critics, but I still cannot help but hide at home. My acne is affecting me very severely, I cannot even wear shirts with sleeves higher than my elbows because my arms are covered with little tiny pimples (which I think is folliculitis) and a few big pimples. I think I am going to go on accutane and hope for the best. Thank-you for your support, it really means a lot.

Are you taking Prescriptions?

Vitamins/Supplements?

Check my Vitamin Regimen. :)

Hey kazumi, I have been on tetracycline, minocycline, and erthomycline.

I'm not on anything right now, because I took those antibiotics for a long time, and I believe they have caused gram negative folliculitis on my arms, back, chest and stomach. So now I have body acne and folliculitis at the same time.

I am currently not taking any prescription drugs, I only take zinc.

Im planning to go on accutane now.
