testing for gluten sensitivity

In December, I visited a nutritionist to talk about food sensitivities. I had been avoiding gluten prior to the appointment and had seen improvements in my digestion and my skin. I described my symptoms to him - bloating, gas, sluggishness, alternating between diarrhea and constipation, acid reflux. He didn't seem to think my symptoms pointed to gluten sensitivity, which surprised me, but I decided to roll with it. I had a blood test for celiac, and the results came back negative.

I've been avoiding gluten off and on since then. I'm not entirely convinced by the diagnosis, although I don't want to sound like "the girl who cried celiac disease." For those of you who have been tested, I'm curious what type of test you had. Is a blood test the most reliable? If so, I'm ready to accept the results and go back to the drawing table.
