I was prescribed minocycline 50mg about 6 months ago. It pretty much kept me clear for about a month and i had no breakouts at all, but then my acne came back like normal and it was not helping anymore. I was taking 2 a day. I told my docs nurse that i quit taking it for the reason it stopped working and she said well we can actually up the dosage to 100mg.

Would that even work and if it did wouldnt i just become immune to that again eventually?

I am going to move this to the Antibiotics subforum. =)

I have never used Mino, but I was on Doxycycline for 18 months. It DID serve it's purpose, by relegating my acne from moderate to mild, but it was not the answer. I experienced no side effects, but in all honesty, antibiotics (in my eyes) are not the solution. It is not only dangerous to stay on antibiotics long term (because of resisitance) but it also just simply will not 'cure' your acne.

As for upping the dosage, that could work, but at some point you shall have to quit the antibiotics and I am afraid your skin might return to where it was before.

My advice is to quit the antibiotics (wean yourself off of them slowly) and look for alternatives. If you need any more information, feel free to PM me.
