I wanted to use aloe for my red marks so I bought a "Lily of the Desert" brand of aloe vera gelly that could be used as a moisturizer. Its 99% aloe vera, with carbomer, vitamins A, C and E.... Has this caused anyone to break out or clogged pores? I was getting clearer but I find that since Ive used this, Ive gotten a few new breakouts... Any recommendations for aloe or suggestions?

I use that exact brand/product you mentioned, and it hasn't given me any problems at all.

I used to use 98% JASON aloe vera gel and I found it VERY drying. which I was NOT expecting.. My skin felt so tight.. blech. But, I didn't feel it clogged my pores..

somebody posted a list of comodogenic and noncomodogenic chemicals/substances.... aloe vera was very low on the pore-clogging scale, so i'd say you have nothing to worry about.

i also used aloe vera gel (fruit of the earth) as moisturizer for a while, and it didn't clog my pores

Here's a chart for comedogenicity: http://www.zerozits.com/Articles/acne_dete...ve/article6.htm

Mind you, it's not 100% reliable though. By that, I mean that there are still variables you have to factor in. For example, I now use coconut oil for my face, but on almost all comedogenicity scales, it says that coconut oil is VERY comedogenic. Why? because they don't factor into account that 100% extra virgin coconut oil is different from processed CO, etc. Just a heads up.
