*oh and these are from 2007, not 2006. I put down the wrong year.

The photos on the left are when my acne was at its worst.

They aren't perfect but for having constant acne for 7 years what can you do?

Have a little faith that your body can heal the marks by itself.

Were you applying anything help the marks fade? I actually agree with you quite a bit; I've found that tampering with my face kind of hinders the fading of red marks, though I don't know if I'm the odd one out in this. I've used several acids, most notably MaMa lotion, to fade red marks, and while they've worked fine initially, they seem to worsen hyperpigmentation in the long run. Don't know why this is, but it is definitely true that marks fade in time. Unfortunately, they tend to fade in a matter of years, or some similarly discouraging length of time.

No, not really. I don't think I've used anything long enough to see an improvement and that's why I'm surprised my red marks aren't worse.

I used an at home chemical peel to lessen the red marks by my mouth and actually had a huge break out from it which gave me probably 6 new red marks to tend to.

Just one big lesson.

thank you! you gave me hope. no one on this site has ever shown proof that their marks do fade. it seems like they forget about it after its gone and dont bother to give hope to anyone else. but thank you for sharing this with everyone. it really shows me a whole new perspective!

I wish I could fast forward my life a few years... I currently have quite alot of red marks ( maybe 20 or more all around my jawline/chin.) that I've had for at least 5 months as far as I can remember. They are not as bright as they used to be, but they still look horrible :(

There are a lot of natural ways to fade red marks. I'm using nutmeg and honey. Even if it doesn't fade my scars in the end atleast it's a good mask that softens my skin :P

nice! I couldn´t wait for my marks to fade though, I had to do something. I`m freakin impatient lol. Peels definitely help.

My issue was that I kept getting cystic pimples in basically the exact same spots on my cheeks, the marks just did not get better.

It would seem that the red mark treatments that may exacerbate in the long run are the harsh acids, peels, etc.

Things like Vitamin E, taken internally and applied topically, and Neosporin cream, etc, that aren't harsh on the skin can only be beneficial imo.

Eek, I hope no one uses neosporin all over their face. It has white petrolatum and will clog your pores. It does for me anyways.

I agree that chemical peels can make it worse. Maybe there is a laser out there that can help.

No, no, Neosporin makes a cream, it's different than the ointment. If you google "Neosporin cream acne" you will see that a lot of people use it for acne. My pimples heal maybe 2X as fast with this stuff and with not as much red marks. It sinks right in and doesn't look shiny.

I have noticed, that it takes me about 1- 1 1/2 months for my red marks from acne to fade away. Also i noticed using mederma helped speed up the process.

Oh, I had no idea. That sounds interesting. Never saw it in stores.

Wow you look great! Does BP help in getting rid of red marks? I'm assuming it helps since it peels skin?

I don't think so. I don't get peeling from BP. I only spot treat with it and can't wash my entire face since it burns.

i dont mean to be negative,

but those pictures are 2-3 years apart and still not all the red is gone.

I only say this because I have a cluster of red marks on my left temple and if its going to take years i might as well get like a skin transplant, jk. but seriously

The whole reason I even posted this is to show your body can heal itself. It's not like you're stuck with the red marks forever and I think people forget that. That's all. I don't think it's wise at all to work on your hyperpigmentation while you're dealing with active acne. Now that I have it under control I might consider procedures to speed it up but idk. Natural way is doing fine for me.

I think she had more breakouts after her previous red marks healed...

Yeah, I did. I had it more along my jaw line [where the red marks are clustered most now]. Those are the most recent ones too.

If you don't mean to be negative then don't! She is just trying to let us all know that after a few years HER red marks went down considerably. You look great AcneJean!

Wow, you look amazing! Thank you for sharing

I used to have a lot of red marks, but now they are almost gone!

I use AHA and it helps the healing process!
