What is "chelated" zinc?

Recommended Posts

I've seen posts on here that mention "chelated" zinc but I can't figure out what that is. Could someone please explain it to me?

I do not know what it EXACTLY is, however it is an easier absorbed form of zinc. "Chelated" is not a form of zinc, it is something that applies to all vitamins.

Generally it is just easier on the body and you will absorb more. Most of the time, if you take 50mg of zinc, you will only actually absorb a fraction of that.

Yes, it's already bound to something so won't bind to the undigestible substances in grains and other foods you eat. My multi has OptiZinc, a trademark name, but means it's bound to methionine.
