which is more important-face or body?

Alright: the other day, my good guy friend told me that this girl had a "hot body, but her face is not so cute". That sort of got me thinking, what is more important to guys when their evaluating your overall appearance? I mean, I once had a crush on a tall, muscular guy whose face wasn't anything special and also he had some acne. So I was wondering, is it the same for guys? Like based on physical appearance alone, which is more important, having a cute face or having a hot body?

I bet most guys will say a hot body.

Me, I'm first attracted a guy's hair and style (physically, that is). A cute face is more important than a muscular body (and I don't think acne makes a face un-cute), but muscles are nice, too. If I don't like his personality, though, then it doesn't matter how cute or hot he is, I'm not gonna want to hang out with him.

hmm, thats a toughie lol. I would personally (as a guy) say that the face would be more important than the body but overall i wouldnt really judge on physical appearance

face face face, everything important is in the head. Her eyes, her mind, and her mouth (for conversing you gutter minded fiends).

Nothing beats a good face. I'm a sucker for a girl with a cute/attractive face. Body comes second IMO, unless they're extremely overweight or something.

Face....for sure. Bodies usually change more than faces over time; a good body can get ugly much faster. There's expression and emotion in the face also.

I once had a "friend", who was envious of me being naturally thin, tell me that she'd rather have a pretty face than a good body, and said it in a way that indicated she didn't think my face was pretty. Ouch. I try and remember that comment came out of jealousy.

Definitely the face. There are so many features to look at, and you can learn a lot about someone just by looking at their face

Body.

It takes more effort and determination for a decent body. Hot faces are everywhere. Hot bodies are rare and getting rarer everyday. Whenever I go to the grocery store for example, everyone stares at my hot dazzling body.

There is no deffinate answer to this. One will not find a 1000lb female attractive because "she has a cute face"

Like wise one will not find brian peppers attractive because "he has a hot body".

I don't prefer one over the other, I just have wierd tastes that I can't even explain. I have quite high standards, but also with odd tastes. I have tried to explain it before and I just don't know what it is myself. Though I do have a strange attraction to scene chicks

Your comparison of extremes has no bearing on the OP's question. We are talking about majorities and not ultra outliers of the human race. We are talking about would you prefer a 5 face and 10 body or a 10 face and 5 body. Jesus Christ!

Definitely a good looking face. Someone's body doesn't need to be "hot" per say, but a good face with a body that looks maintained and cared for is ideal.

the face.

what if their body gets ugly and extremely over weight and stuff?

their face would still be cute :]

Yes, though my comparisons weren't meant to be literal, I was merely making a point that it's all preferance. One or the other isn't more important to the general mass, but only to select individuals, and to those select individuals it varies significantly. I personally don't go below an 8 anything, but that's just me.

ok so it seems like theres a general consensus that the face is more important... idk though, i still think a guy with an average face (not particuraly goodlooking) with a really hot muscular body is more attractive than a super handsome chubby guy or something... maybe it's just me though haha...

i do think though that a really inshape, toned "hot" body takes more work to achieve than a cute face, which is something you are pretty much just born with, so maybe it should be valued more???

I say - both. My girls always have good face characteristics and at least good shape (doesn't necessary need to be fitness model..but at least have good sport looking body). Maybe sounds stupid but I don't go out with girls who have good body and ugly face or vice versa :D

I'd say that most of my friends do look for certain body types, so I'd say that body is important, but it's not necessarily the fitness level as much as a person's build. Some of my female friends won't even look at a guy unless he's tall with a meatier build, while some guys I know are the exact opposite- preferring the most petite women. Once the basic body-type qualification is met, then those people will move onto the face.

I do think that in this day and age, most people do not have perfect bodies, so a focus on perfection is really hypocritical unless you can say that you're perfect as well. I used to have one friend who was so harsh on women's looks that he couldn't look at any girl and say she was pretty. What happens when he does find that "perfect" girl and she gains weight due to an illness or pregnancy?

I am a guy and I prefer a pretty face over a great body any day. However, I can't do overweight girls no matter how cute the face is. As long as you respect your body, I can respect you.

Most of my guy friends would prefer big boobs and big butts over a pretty face. I just prefer a pretty face better because that is what I am going to spend the majority of my time looking at.

I don't know...Some people naturally have a better body to start with. Especially with women...so much of meeting that "ideal" shape for a woman depends on where her genetics determine the fat to be deposited; not much control over that. Sure, you can work out and stay slender and have great muscle tone, but at a certain point your body is shaped a certain way & that's that. Same goes for guys...some have a much harder time gaining muscle or staying lean than others. Can't do much about height either. I agree with PinkShoeAddict that build can take precedence over fitness level. A guy could be in amazing shape, but if has short stocky legs I am turned off. I also really don't like narrow shoulders on a guy.

Of course, if a person is obese or emaciated then that will distort their face anyway. A nice face can be totally ruined by a double chin or a gaunt appearance.

To me average does not equal chubby either. It bothers me that people think the norm is to be overweight.... To me, average is a guy of medium non chubby build who isn't particularly muscular, but not chubby either. I would take that kind of "average" with a beautiful face over a guy with an amazing body and a face that is not very attractive.

When I look at a guy, I suppose I take in the whole look, and then it's the face, and then the body. My initial attraction is based on the whole package (no pun there :naughty: ).

You have more control over your body. If you eat healthily, exercise, and control your caloric intake, you can have a great one. You have much less control over your face. While I definitely put some stock in a pretty face, I look more at the body because it tells a lot about the person's overall health. If you have a bad acne problem, there's only so much you can do. If you're a plain-looking individual, the same concept applies. I can't bring myself to judge a person more on their face when they didn't have a say in the matter. Believe it or not, I actually look at teeth before scrutinizing other facial details. It's not hard to spot a smoker and/or drug user.

Phenomenon?

That term has been around since I was in middle school, and probably before that...we're talking over a decade now. Just another term to degrade and humiliate women

Nice teeth can be kind of like acne...much easier to control for some & much to do with genetics. It's not all about drugs & smoking...it can come down to being poor & not affording dental care or orthodontics while growing up. Some people have genetically weaker enamel & will get decay more easily than others, no matter how well their hygiene is.

Or like me, I drink copious amounts of coffee and find it challenging to keep my smile white. I'll take coffee over perfectly white teeth any day though :P.
