So my journey begins

Recommended Posts

Hey guys and girls, I'm about to start on a journey that I hope to finish with clear skin. In April I had a car accident which caused me a lot of stress, this lead to me getting a huge spot on my chin. I've never usually cared so much but this thing was so noticeable that it affected me. From that day forward I've been breaking out more than ever due to the stress the car accident caused me. I ended up feeling very upset and -£450 on repairs which I have now paid off. I now find myself looking in the mirror at every chance, find my thoughts are 80% about my skin and if a new pimple is ready to come up. If 'breakout' or 'spot' are used out of context I instantly think of it as a skin term.

Ever since that day I've not been myself, I don't look people in the eye, stopped approaching girls and felt really miserable in general. I've bought a bunch of products, thus being

Oxy 10%bp

Cetaphil facial cleanser

Neutrogena advantage spot treatment

Clearasil deep pore scrub

Facial wipes

Although these products helped to an extent I always have a reoccurring spot to drag my confidence right down afterwards.

I recently went on Holiday to Kos with my friends, which I'm very lucky to have considering how nice they all are. They never mention anything about my skin and always treat me as friends should. However, the trip was ruined due to my skin and going out at night looking like a mess, but at least I had good mates to assure I had a good night.

So here comes the important bit, today I woke for work with a great big spot and decided enough was enough. I went downstairs and told my mum how I've really been feeling for the past 4/5 months, which was very difficult. I got really upset telling her that I'm not myself at the moment and need some help. She was clueless to how I had been feeling and felt bad for not noticing it. Told my boss at work I'm experiencing mild depression, which I don't think I am considering having clear skin would change my mood instantly.

So come Monday morning I'm going to the doctors, something I'm not looking forward to but something that has to be done.

Ill keep you updated

Great log, we could always use more members who keep close track of thier skin care regimens! And I'm sorry about the car accident, that could definately make things a little wacky!

I'm going to move this to our personal log section (it would get lost fast in this forum as the new topics pile on!), but wanted to thank you for starting this log! And please do keep us updated!

It's the day before I go and see the doctor, I'm very nervous but at the same time looking forward to it in a weird way. I'm from the UK so I guess the treatment procedure is very different to that in the US. I'm hoping I can be put on these drugs but I doubt my acne is severe enough

Dalacin T- This medicine contains the active ingredient clindamycin phosphate, which is an antibiotic medicine. It has activity against a wide variety of bacteria, including the bacteria associated with acne, Propionebacterium acnes. This is a common type of bacteria that feeds on sebum produced by the sebaceous glands in the skin. It produces waste products and fatty acids that irritate the sebaceous glands, making them inflamed and causing spots.

Clindamycin works by preventing the bacteria from producing proteins essential to the bacterial cell. Without these proteins the bacteria cannot grow, replicate and increase in numbers. By controlling bacterial numbers, the inflammation of the sebaceous glands is brought under control, and the skin is allowed to heal.

Secondly an Antibiotic- Erythromycin

ERYTHROMYCIN (EryPed®) is a macrolide antibiotic. Erythromycin kills certain bacteria or stops their growth. It treats many kinds of infection, including pneumonia (lung infections), skin infections, some sexually transmitted diseases, and Legionnaire's disease. Erythromycin also treats severe acne, and prevents heart problems in patients with rheumatic fever. Generic chewable tablets are not available

Ill report back tomorrow after my appointment and tell you what I've been prescribed, doing it all on the NHS of course, that money that my parents pay all year round will finally be put to some use, at least I hope so.

So im back from the doctors, she was a very nice woman and easy to talk too :shifty: i also got a renewable prescription!! woo

I've got Dalacin T topical Lotion Clindamycin phosphate 50 ml

Here is some information again

How does it work?

This medicine contains the active ingredient clindamycin phosphate, which is an antibiotic medicine. It is a roll on product that you apply twice a day, I'll wait until tonight to apply my first go,

Here I go :surprised:

Hello guys i now get to write that infamous

Day 1

By writing this I'm hoping I will one day be able to say I'm clear, last night I applied the dalacin T all over my affected areas, I woke up this morning and absolutely zero new spots  So at that rate, I'm just going to have to wait for the other spots to heal

Seems good so far

Hmm doesn't seem like anyone cares but I'll keep this log going :)

Day 2

Once again another good day, thought i felt a spot coming up on my chin last night but after sleeping overnight with dalacin t on there is nothing there. 2nd day now and no new spots since I've been applying dalacin to the affected areas, the only thing I'm worried about being on a topical is that I'm going to miss a patch on my face on a particular application and live to regret it, ah well I'm absolutely smothering it over my chin

In summery- No new active spots :)

Day 8/9

Don't really like posting here, because coming on acne.org gets my mood down and forces me to think about acne, when i really don't want to! That's the reason for the short post
