Alternatives to BP, or a mixture regimen

Recommended Posts

My skin gets so dry with BP. Has anyone found an alternative treatment that works just as well or better than BP? Does anyone use BP along with something else? Like using BP once a day, and using something else like SA at night? Or maybe alternating days between BP and SA?

For me the GLycare Perfection Gel from MD Forte actually works better than BP. It's not anti-bacterial but what I do is treat the area with diluted Tea Tree Oil first then wait 10 minutes and use the Glycare Perfection Gel. That stuff rocks for reducing the size and redness of breakouts. Dries up lesions very fast. I hate BP, or I should say leave on cream BP. It makes me so parched all the the water in the world couldn't hydrate my face. I do use a BP 10% Oxy Wash at night and leave it on (Yes, the wash), for say 5-10 minutes, then just wipe it off with a damp cloth. I get the same anti-bacterial benefits as a leave on, hen I put on my glycolics and then moisturize.

One of the Reasons I don't like BP, even though it is beneficial is because it makes my 35 year old skin look dry and old and dull. It doesn't look good under makeup either. I feel like my face is going to crack no matter how much I put on.

You should seriously look into AHA/BHA combo therapy. Glycolic leave on, followed by a Salicylic acid leave on. It chemically exfoliates, brings dead stuff to the surface and clears out all your clogged pores. You have to be patient though. Some people break out worse at first from purging. You just have to take it slow. I'm ready to completely phase out all BP products. I might have a bonfire to celebrate.
