people tell me accutane helps scars????

I was telling several family members that eventually Id like to try laser, dermabrasion,etc...and a few people told me that accutane not only cleared their acne totally,but made their scars almost diminish....anyone else hear this ????

Accutane is meant to help severe cystic acne. I have not heard it being beneficial for scarring, other than it preventing the acne that causes scarring.

I think youre right..tell my family that lol...But yes, If anything I think accutane can be great for cystic acne, but for scarring,the only benefit I see is possibly changing skin texture making some scars look better ](*,)

My general practice doctor basically recommended against using that stuff except as a last resort if other stuff didn't clear up my cystic acne. He said something about it possibly damaging internal organs and skin.

Accutane does NOT affect scaring. Even the product information paper that comes with accutane says that.

Just wanted to add in case you don't already know, if you take accutane you have to wait 6-12 months before having scar revision done.

some ppl have said that accutane makes the scars look better, i've never heard of it removing scars though
