Rubbing alcohol to spot treat a zit?

I walked downstairs with a dab of neosporin on a popped zit (one of the only ones left active on my face...yay!) and my mom noticed. She asked what it was and i told her. She then told me that it wasnt a good idea to use neosporin and i should use rubbing alcohol instead to "dry it out." I think this is ridiculous but i'd like to know if i'm right. I don't think rubbing alcohol on your face is a good idea.
