Whiteheads, blackheads = no moisturizer?

Recommended Posts

If you get clogged pores, whiteheads and blackheads, is your skin telling you you are using too much moisturizer?

On the other side of the coin, I've heard if your skin is too dry, the skin will try to compensate by pumping out more oil and that leads to clogged pores.

Depending on your moisturizer, it could be contributing to clogged pores. What are you using?

Dehydrated skin is also prone to comedone formation, but you won't solve this problem with moisturizer. Skin needs to be hydrated from within. Drink plenty of water and take fish oil supplements to help reinforce your skin's epidermal lipids .... this will decrease transepidermal water loss thru evaporation.

And the concept of the skin producing more sebum to compensate for dryness is just a myth ... sebum does not hydrate the skin, and the sebaceous glands have no capacity to detect dryness and react.
