anti-inflammatories and antibiotics

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Has anyone tried using a combination of anti-inflammatories with antibiotics as an alternative to roaccutane. I was on roaccutane 3 years ago and yeah it cleared me up with minimal side effects but I relapsed about 6 months later. Since then I've had mild-moderate acne controlled with antibiotics. Its my understanding that if you relapse once from roaccutane you will relapse again and again-thats just not worth it unless your acne is severe.

Anyway if anyone has any opinions, experience of this "cocktail" measure let me know.

Cheers.

I know you posted a long time ago but hopefully you check for replies often. I've been on Adoxa and Zyrtec for about 3 mos. and i really have noticed a difference in my skin. The Zyrtec is for allergies therefore it reduces the inflammation or reaction your skin might have sensitivities towards. I take vitamins as well as use topical BP, and PHA's and i know that's also helped quite a bit. Hope this hepls.

Zyrtec is actually a prescription for allergies. It can act as an anti-inflammatory if you have reactionary skin. The only side effect is it can make you drowsy so you take it at night. Zyrtec is like Clariton (which you can now buy otc). Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply,

Another drug i've discovered is dapsone-whose main use is in the treatment of leprosy. It can only be used for 3 months, i reckon like many acne treatments it won't have long-term benefits

Ill talk to the derm about it, see what he says if i ever get to see him!

the only problem is for alot of people antibiotics dont give long-term clearance and in my case and alot of others antibiotics just control the acne not clear it

Guest Crooked I

I used antibiotics to get clear then went on to the regimen to stay clear. Have you considered doing that?
