Retin and and BP

Recommended Posts

I had retin-a micro before and it worked really well. I stopped using it for awhile and I just started about a month ago. I've adjusted to it now but I don't want to have to be using it everyday. I know that retin-a micro and benzoyl peroxide cancel each other out but does anybody know if it would be okay to use benzoyl peroxide like Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, then use retin-a Wednesday, then back to BP Thursday and Friday, and then retin-a again on Saturday? The retin-a is really drying and irritating so I don't want to use it everyday but I know I need to use something on the days I don't use retin-a. Is maybe salicylic acid a better choice?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

as long as you leave at least 6 hrs between applications and you wash your skin between applications, you can use both bp and retin-a micro (separately). for example in the morning i wash my face and apply bp, but at night i wash my face and apply retina. do the same thing day after day. the problem with applying them both at the same time or even too close in time is that bp deactivates retin a. you must wait at least 6 hrs after applying bp for it to be completely absorbed into the skin before applying retin a micro. so if you want to use retin a half the week and bp the other half you wont be messing with its effectiveness.
