someoneinengland,

6000mg of starflower oil (how much GLA is that then?) and 2400mg lecithin, I thought your course talks about 2000mg of GLA and 500-1200mg of lecithin? god it's hard to find the right dose.....

what would you suggest for a "beginner"? should I take any other oils as well?

and do you take it as a fluid? cause when it comes to capsules you sort of need pockets to carry them all

I take 5000mg of starflower oil (10 caps) which contains 1000mg GLA. I take 2400mg Lecithin (2 caps)

Thats 12 capsules a day.

In two doses.

I take with milk before a meal or food.

I swallow 4 times a day to keep my skin clear.

someoneinengland,

sorry I keep missing certain posts of yours... eusa_shifty.gif

but can I ask how long it took you to see results? what was your acne like before?

and did you try accutane or anything like that before?

are you now a 100% clear?

My acne was bad (in my opinion and thats what counts right?) but I would usually have about 5-10 'live' spots at anyone time. The occassioanl cyst as well.

I would start with the high dose recommended on the course and after a couple of weeks lower it. I wouldnt recommend other oils, although others on the forum may disagree.

Im writing up a detailed 'My Acne Story' so you will ahve to wait to see. But yes i did have accutane when I was 17-18.

i would just take the lecithin to start off with, but by all means try it without first...

Multivitamins can be problematic, for example B-vits and iodine have in the past made me break out.

Im glad you have decided to use borage oil though.

Yippie! ME TOO....I will start the borage with tonights meal......BYE-BYE antibiotics......ahhh, I'm scared though...should I be droppin' them cold turkey and starting Borage right away with a bang? Anyone thinnk I should give my body a rest between first? OR should I just take the plunge and begin the Borage...better go back to the store and get the lecithin too huh? I just figured I could eat more eggs...lol...seriously though...thought I could find more foods that have lecithin in it and just eat more of that with my Borage Oil capsules........

So if I take 5 in the morning, and 5 caps during dinner that'll help clear me up faster and more successfully. You can't overdose on GLA? I am just wondering another thing too..did you get an IB from this?

Because I was only taking 1 in the morning, and 1 during supper, will the sudden increase in GLA cause my hormones to go: "Wtf?"..ending up breakin me out. (sorry..i am just being cautious here). To me it doesn't matter if I get an IB..as long as I clear up wonderfully, thats all I ask. for :)

Should I stop takin the Zinc, Vitamin B-Complex?

And just stick to 1 Letchin in the morning with the 5 borage oil caps, 1 Letchin at meal time, 5 borage oil caps. And my vitamin C, Bifodhilus.

Thanks mucho

I dont see why that wouldnt work. it might be hard to see what dose you are getting of the lecithin though.

Question: Will soy milk work? That way you don't get the bad dairy hormones which many believe can also lead to break-outs. Just a thought. Today will be my second day of borage/lecitihin. However, at least until my skin is completely clear, I have continued with the CSR. If my skin in flawless for a week straight, I will start to ease off the BP and such until I no longer have to use it (which is my ultimate goal).

~> I am highly suggest you guys to take your oil with KEFIR!! Beside useing milk.. ~

Why is this? Can you explain further? Thanks.

Also, I was wondering how this will work with my other supplements. I usually also take a multivitamin and EFA pill. I'm obviously going to stop taking the EFA pill, but what about the multivitamin? Should I also start taking an Omega 3 supplement since I'm no longer taking the EFA? Thanks!

You guys dont know what is kefir? Ok Than first of all kefir and milk or yogurt all are dairy product but if to look between kefir and milk.. Than kefir is 100 time better than milk.. It is contain beneficial bacteria , many vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes. Particularly calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, B2 and B12, vitamin K, vitamin A and vitamin D. So Finnaly Efas absorb when you drink with dairy product so why not to chouse Kefir?

While both kefir and yogurt are cultured milk products, they contain different types of beneficial bacteria. Yogurt contains transient beneficial bacteria that keep the digestive system clean and provide food for the friendly bacteria that already are present. Kefir actually colonizes the intestinal tract -- a feat that yogurt cannot match.

Additionally, Kefir contains several major strains of friendly bacteria not commonly found in yogurt: Lactobacillus Caucasus, Leuconostoc, Acetobacter species, and Streptococcus species. It also contains beneficial yeasts, such as Saccharomyces kefir and Torula kefir, which dominate, control and eliminate destructive pathogenic yeasts in the body by penetrating the mucosal lining where unhealthy yeast and bacteria reside -- forming a virtual SWAT team that housecleans and strengthens the intestines. Consequently, the body becomes more efficient in resisting pathogens like E. coli and intestinal parasites.

Kefir's active yeast and bacteria provide more nutritive value than yogurt by helping digest the foods that you eat and by keeping the colon environment clean and healthy. The curd size of kefir is smaller than yogurt, so it's also easier to digest, making it an ideal food for babies, the elderly, and anyone with digestive disorders.

Have you noticed a difference in your skin??

And btw, Melfice, I don't think they sell Kefir in the US, not in the major grocery stores anyway.

melfice2k is right about kefir being better at absorbing oil than milk. But it is harder to get hold of and not totally neccessary to clear skin.

hey guys...

well i started taking' Natures way' brand 1000mg EPO caps 3 weeks ago. i was kinda scared cuz i never have taken vitamin/minerals capsules before. but i only take EPO to help my *very bad* PMS

how much are taking i.e. how gla per a day. take with milk and lecithin just before a meal.

Also, I was wondering how this will work with my other supplements. I usually also take a multivitamin and EFA pill. I'm obviously going to stop taking the EFA pill, but what about the multivitamin? Should I also start taking an Omega 3 supplement since I'm no longer taking the EFA? Thanks!

Check out the facemaster course to cure your acne. it has all the details. As for multivits im undecided about them being beneficial for acne or problematic. As while GLA is better absorbed with some vitamin such as selenuim and vitamin e, some vitamins can cause a breakout, such as the b-vits. This all based on my personal experience when i was checking the supplements and my reactions to them on an hour by hour basis.

I think Im gonna jump on the band wagon too and start taking some Borage oil. What could it hurt?

I reaaly hope you do. The more people that do this the more the word will spread. Check the site for the free course-it has the details.

good thinking batman. you could double the amount to get faster results! As for confusion, i toyed with Essential fatty acids a few years ago, but there was so much dos and dont it worked out to be more hassle than it was worth. I only picked up some borage oil after doing some more research a few months ago.

I have no idea about soy milk and rice milk. some others have asked me that and all i can say is try it. When i top up my milk supply i will get soy and rice milk and test them to see if they affect the results.

EPO is more effective as a topical treatment. Many natural products being sold these days list EPO in the ingredients. Open a capsule and rub the oil into your skin.

For those of you looking to EPO as an internal treatment, go read about the Omega 6-to-Omega 3 ratio. Add some fish oil capsules to your regimen. If this theory is in any way true, it should improve any number of inflammatory skin problems.

Okay someoneinengland I stopped takin my Vitamin B-Complex. Since I think thats what could be causing the break outs, or maybe contributing to it, not meshing well with my borage oil.

I am still going to be taking Zinc, Vitamin E(cuz i think its good for me)

I should be expecting good results soon(give a take a few weeks)

Thanks again for sharing! :)

god, I started taking that borage oil with some lecithin and now I'm having a fever, terrible stomache ache, the worst headache I ever had so far in my life and I've been sick several times. and all this only in two days of taking borage oil this is madness, why the hell do I get such a reaction???? :(

I'll stop this immediately I can't take that it feels like a major hangover or some kinda serious flu...

are you people all fine with that oil-thingy?

what are your doses? I started out with round 2000mg of GLA and 1000mg of lecithin a day..I thought that's allright :(

has anybody experienced the same or a similar thing? I'm on tane by the way maybe I'm too sensitive at the moment and should try again when I'm off but I'm really kinda scared now I would never have thought that this is going to have such a horrible effect (and I know it's the oil, I didn't change anything else).

do you people take liquid oil or capsules? cause I took capsules...maybe I should try liquid next time?

god I don't even no if I want to try that one ever again....

my diet consists of painkillers rightnow :cry::wall:

what about flaxseed, primrose oil...I just wanted to try borage oil because the GLA amount is the highest and it seems as though flaxseed and primrose are not as good....what alternatives are there to borage?

anyway, I don't want to scare people off this oily post, BUT you better watch out...

Im sorry to hear about your reaction anjana.

what brand of borage oil & lecithin did you use?

where did you get it from?

did you store it in the fridge?

whats the use by date on the bottles?

did you take the borage oil and lecithin just before food or on an empty stomach?

what milk did you use? use by date?

did you drink milk before using the borage oil and lecithin? i.e. are you a regular milk drinker?

how long have you been on accutane?

It is quite possible that the interaction with accutane caused this as accutane is such an unknown.

here is a link about accutane:

in begin i also had stomache ache abit than after 2-3 day everything gone ok ~ I am take EFA with Kefir before meal and than egg yolko and start eating my meal ~ I dont have any problem

IMPORTANT TO USERS WHO STARTED TO TAKE OIL's/BORAGE/PrimroseOil/EFA FOR THEIR HORMONE BALANCE:

IF you started new regime for balance hormone .. Than with no wait go make hormonal test from blood (especially Endrogen/Androgen). Than after 1 month go make again test and see how is situation if balance are ok same level than it is works :)

Won't this get rather expensive. If I'm correct you'll end up spending about $20 every ten days.

I spend £20 a month on borage oil and lecithin (About $35) and am on a maintenance dose of 1000mg GLA a day. The initial kick start is more than this but only lasts a couple of weeks.

Melfice2k--a hormone test is a very good idea, but for some that wont be practical.
