Hi, ive been dermarolling my hypertrophic scars for about a year and a half but ive noticed that my skin is still red and risen where ive dermarolled even after 6 months of healing and rest - is this normal? what do i do?

@Alex24314This is actually in the wrong section, I will put it in hypertrophic scars. Any procedure can make hypterophic scars get worse, it's a condition where excess scar tissue is formed. So yes needling can make this happen.

Best to see a provider who specializes in treating hypertrophic scars. There are several treatments, see the FAQ in the main scar treatments sub, the post is pinned, and the hypertrophic section.

You need a combination of steriod injection or steriod and co2 laser to flatten them, pulse dye laser for the red, and silicone scar sheets afterwards.
