An aloe nightmare on picked skin

I'm going to try and make this as short as possible. I have struggled with picking my skin for years now, most obsessively on my face. I will have good times and bad times. Everything was really good lately and things were started to stay clear. I am using Rx products from the derm for my acne which helps a lot since acne blemishes were what I would pick the most

anyway, I recently got a pore extraction facial where they manually extract the stuff from clogging your pores. However I think the facialist pressed too hard on one spot and left a mark. I ignored it but then it started peeling and I subconsciously picked it off. That's when it all went downhill. I picked and picked until it was 10 times worse.

now the main problem. I was already incredibly self conscious about the open wound on my face so I decided to put some aloe (straight from my aloe plant) on the spot and let it sit for about an hour to soothe it. When I checked on it the spot had turned black/purple!!!!! Please tell me if this has happened to you and if it goes away quickly :( thank you!!!

i understand how hard it is to resist picking at times and the terrible feeling after making things 100x worse. I'm in the same spot right now. black/purple is just the skin healing it can happen when the wound is deep. take a deep breathe and try to stay strong this next week, it will heal . i'd recommend moisturizer or honey in future just in case you're having a reaction to the aloe :)

Sounds like there is some bruising as well as scabbing going on. Don't panic...it will heal, just give it a little time. I've found taking an extra vitamin c helps the open wounds and bruising heal a little quicker and with less scarring/discoloration afterwards. Stop picking at this one (in a few days it will be a memory). Your body wants to heal your skin and make it as smooth as possible again--let it.
