hey guys! I'm currently on accutane and been on it for 3 1/2 months. my results so far have not been very good considering I can't stop picking so starting today I'm going to make a daily blog on breaking my bad skin picking habit. if anyone has some advice it would be greatly appreciated!
Day 1:
The morning went okay and I didn't pick because I wasn't too tempted to do so. After school I came home and used a hot compress and left it over my skin and washed my face. Afterwards, I dabbed hydrogen peroxide on each pimple/scab. One of the pimples came to a complete head, but it was quite odd because it was like the hydrogen peroxide got into the pimple and made it bubble inside so I popped it gently I also picked off a tiny already flakey scab, but it didn't do any harm. One of my biggest issues is touching my face throughout the day. I keep running my hands over my cheeks to feel any pimples/scabs which is making it worse as well.
Day 2:
Last night I went out and bought hydrocolloid bandages to place on top of any pimples to drain them. So far they're working! I was up super late last night (2:30) and while I had one of the bandages on over a pimple, I popped the pimple I did that to a few of them but they look good today just red still. At 3:30 I put some more all over my face (just little dots/squares) and I'll leave it until 5:30 am, which is right before I shower. I had two tiny blackheads along my jaw (one on both sides) and I popped those but stopped myself and didn't make myself bleed. I am not going to pick my face at all, even with the bandages on. I am determined! 3 of the 4 main pimples I put the bandages on pretty much completely drained while one is still there. Fingers crossed tonight that last one heals!
(if anybody is even paying attention to this lol)
Day 3:
My skin is already looking so much better! The hydrocolloid bandages are the best inventions ever. I have just been putting those on every single blemish on my face so I don't pick and it's getting easier to not touch my face. Seeing how well my face is healing, not picking has gotten slightly easier. There is still one of the bigger pimples left but I keep putting bandages on it. Today when I got home from school, I took the tiny circle bandage off (my hair was covering it all day) and gently popped it and stopped as soon as the gross stuff came out and then left it alone. It seems to be okay right now and hopefully tomorrow morning it'll look even better.
Day 5:
Missed day 4! Oops! All the bigger pimples that used to be there are now gone but new ones have come. I picked at them a little and last night I just went to bed when I got home and didn't put any bandages on. My skin is improving, but I need to make sure to not pick at it as it's getting better. Hoping less pimples will keep popping up!

thank you I keep looking at my face all the time which definitely is making me pick more!
Day 6:
So my entire face is pretty much clear as of now?!? I do have about 5 red spots that are healing (only one is kind of big) but besides that there are no lumps or anything on my face it's only been a week! Anyways, I did pop these ones (very gently and not over the top) which I should not have and is probably why the spots are red. The hydrocolloid bandages are life savers and improving/healing my pimples so much quicker and more drastically. Things are starting to look up and hopefully during my last month and a half of accutane my skin completely clears.
Day 8:
Just realized I missed yesterday! Oops! Anyways, these past couple of days have been incredibly stressful with school and I did pick at my face it still looks much better, but there is a pimple on my cheek that definitely needs to heal. I haven't been doing as well with the hydrocolloid bandages but I just put some on now. My dermatologist appointment isn't until another week (December 15) but I want my skin to look good when I see my dermatologist.
Day 9:
This morning I woke up with a small nodule pimple (not quite a cyst) but everything is getting better. It was kind of ready to pop a few hours ago so I popped it since it was painful and bothering me I'm going to put my hydrocolloid bandages and hope for the best! Besides that my face is doing pretty well! It's mostly just healing now. Hopefully tomorrow morning the pimple will be gone/better.
Day 12:
These past couple of days have been rough and my skin is not looking good from picking The nodule I popped healed awfully (giant scab). This morning I popped some small pimples and when I got out of the shower my skin looked absolutely horrible and had red spots everywhere I popped. even though everything was flat make up could'nt even cover it. I've been wearing hydrocolloid bandages all day and my skin is already looking much better. I'm really disappointed in myself and hoping my skin will look much better by Tuesday (my dermatologist appointment). I only have a month of accutane left and my skin is nowhere near completely clear or as clear as it should be. My mom and I are considering that I go to a therapist for this to help me. If anyone has any advice please let me know

STOP PICKING!!! You will regret it, trust me. Accutane makes your skin super sensitive. Popping anything will likely leave a pitted scar. If it doesn't, it will likely leave a red mark that will last longer than if you just left it alone. I know its super hard, but try not to pick!
