Hi,
25 year old male in the UK, no acne since I was 14 but for the past 4 months my forehead has had a blast from the past and has been getting really oily within a matter of hours after my morning routine and resulting in a flourishing mountain range, primarily above the eyebrows.
Have tried a range of moisturisers and facial washes from both ends of the spectrum as the recommended methods online only seem to contradict one another so thought I'd try them all. I apply a moisturiser at 8am and by lunchtime my forehead is shiny and slippery no matter if the moisturiser is oily, oil-free, non-comedogenic etc. you know the drill and break outs still occur.
However I just stumbled upon an article that suggested that milk is a common reason why this might be happening, which almost gives me a kick of hope because for the past 5 months I have been having a bowl of granola or muesli with milk every morning, maybe once in the evening, as part of a change to actually eat breakfast when I didn't do so before.
So I'm wondering if anyone has benefited from cutting out dairy from their diets and whether one bowl of milk a day is enough to be a likely cause of this? Also if anyone has tried a different type of milk and has seen any improvement in skin and if any suggestions?
This is me today, it doesn't look too bad in the photo which I guess is the poor camera quality and subtle lighting.
I am avoiding dairy for the next few weeks to see if that makes a change. Today I also bought the Clean & Clear Spot Treatment Gel which I'll leave overnight and see if it helps. My routine is warm wash just using water in the mornings and Neutrogena Shine control face wash in the evenings. I'm still in between moisturisers but my best one so far has been Nivea Jojoba Oil & Vitamin E which is probably the heaviest I've tried but I've had the best results with it. Will report back in 2 days.
Hi,
Dairy does cause acne, primarily because milk contains both natural and artificial growth hormones (by artificial I mean they are injected into the cow and not produced naturally by the cow), literally designed to make a baby calf grow into a 1 ton cow. So that's obviously going to cause some damage in your body. Also milk contains a large amount of somatic cells (literal PUS). So yeah cutting out dairy will definitely benefit you.
