Hi,
So I have very mild acne that doesnt really bother me and I can control, however I have very oily skin that bothers me and I find tremendously annoying. My dermatologist put me on a low dose of Accutane (20mg a day) to combat this, however Ive been reading online that the oiliness comes back after Accutane. Will my oiliness return to the same amount pre-Accutane after I finish my Accutane treatment?
Thanks

I feel like its not worth it and i should stop now
i would too.
what else have you tried? what face wash do you use. i find that cleansers with sulfates make it a lot worse. cleansers with zinc help. garnier clean for sensitive skin has zinc and it works well. cetaphil's dermacontrol oil control cleanser and moisturizer have zinc. make sure you don't wash your face more than 2x a day. blot excess oil with blotting tissue of even swipe it with a witch hazel soaked cotton ball mid day if its really bad. add vitamin A and D supplements.
Hey that's not even a really low dose, I thought low was considered 10 mg.
How do you feel? Are you having issues or are you OK? If you're feeling bad physically or mentally yes you should stop.
I know vitamin A in cod liver oil and spearmint reduce oil production. But dont take vitamin A while on or immediately following accutane.
20 mg is not a low dose and it's not worth it if the problem is just oily skin. however, i'm taking accutane for oily skin and very mild acne for almost a year and i'm on 5 mg every other day (so ultra low dose). it works! there are literally no side effects and all my blood tests come out fine. you just have to be aware that the oilwill return as soon as you stop taking accutane. it's a temporary fix but you can take it even for a couple of years.
