Hey guys, I`m 23 years old male and i`m constantly suffering with acne breakouts. I have more of a fair skin tone, that`s sensitive. I have oily skin as i tend to always have a shine on my forehead and cheeks. My skin constantly feels irritated, itchy, tight, looks dry and flaky with blemishes on surface. I only cleanse 2 a day using cerave hydrating cleanser, and don't like to use a moisturiser due to the fact I always seem to break out. My cheeks and temple are the worst areas.
I never use to have acne growing up and I eat extremely healthy due to being Celiac. I don`t consume any dairy, I take fish oils, green supplement, progressive phytoberrys, and keep a balanced alkaline diet.
Any Recommendations or advice to what could be constantly causing these breakouts and irritated skin, and how to get my skin back on track to being healthy and clear.
Hi! To be honest cleansing your face is necessary only to remove products that were applied earlier. This isn't the case with you, so you should refrain.
Cleansing your face actually dries it out, so your sebum glands will compensate by producing even more oil. That's probably the reason your face is oily. If you decide to keep cleansing twice/day, you should moisturize.
Here is some simple chemistry: like substances dissolve other like substances (i.e. water dissolves water-based products and oil dissolves oil-based products). But oil also dissolves sebum! So if you apply a good oil to your face (I recommend jojoba oil), it should help to dissolve the oil plugs in your pores, which is what acne is. Also, jojoba oil is chemically similar to sebum, so your oil glands won't produce as much.Good luck
Thanks for advice, I`lldefinitelygive this a try and hope it works out. I heard goods things bout jojoba just haven`t gotten around to trying it.
Sorry but I must disagree on the cleaning issue. Cleansing is not onlyto remove make up or other things applied to your face, it's also necessary to remove dirt and oil that has accumulated from the environment as well as excess sebum your skin has produced throughout the day and night. Daily cleansing, twice a day is key. I agree 100% on everything else!
Your skin is dry and/or flakey on top and oily underneath because you are not exfoliating andmoisturizing. Both are very important twice a day as well for skin to stay clear and moisturized without over producing oil. You are cleansing, that's great! BUTwhen you skipyour moisturizer, your skin thinks it's dry so it produces too much oil, not great. You need to exfoliate to remove the flakiness, then moisturize to create a healthy normalsebum production...not an unhealthy overproduction of sebum!
Try the acne.org regimen that includes the cleanser, benzoyl peroxide & 10%AHA moisturizer. I think it will really help your skin!!
Use products that are light in texture instead of heavy so they won't clog up your pores. Use a BHA 2% in liquid form. It is better than AHA since not only does itexfoliate the surface of the skin but goes deeper in to the pores than AHA does. AHA is good but is mostly for sun damaged skin. Use a moisturizer that has a light texture like a gel. Also usea gentle cleanser. Since you have sensitive skin, it is important to not use irritating ingredients like alcohols or witch hazel that dry up the skin and leave it feeling worse. You can also get use a serum or toner that is rich in antioxidants which will help repair your skin by fading post acne marks and redness. Will also give you a brighter complexion.
