Cant Take This No Longer

Hi folks, I'm a 28 year old male, had some acne when I was younger, seemed to clear around 21, was fine till I turned 25, started breaking out badly, no oily skin though, then by 26 my face was an oil slick, and it's just as bad now.

I don't just mean my t zone, it's my full face, saturated in oil.

I don't eat any dairy at all, I have a very limited amount of sugar, and I must drink between 1-3 litres of water a day and nothing else at all, I take 1000mg of vit c every day, and it's seem to have sort of helped my acne.

The oily skin is just relentless tho, within 10 mins of washing it's saturated again.

I use simple soap face gel, and I only wash my face with it once a day, the morning wash is just water.

I've tried moisturising and it made no difference, i just don't understand it. I used to have really nice smooth skin, now I'm oily, lumpy and bumpy, huge pores, and I generally just look and feel rubbish about myself.

What can I do? I'm seriously at the end of my tether with it, I'm embarrassed to go out the house, I hate going to work, I just look so shiny and any dust at work just sticks to my face and I end up looking dirty.

I'll add my doc had me on lymecycline for a while, I'm no longer on them, but I occasionally still use the duac once daily gel he prescribes me. It seems to help the acne, but certainly not the oiliness.

Thanks.

It might be the soap gel you mentioned. I used to always use a cleanser on my face, but it always seemed to dry my skin really bad. I've stopped using cleansers for around 5 months now and my face isn't as oily! It gets oily but it's due to temperature around me. Anyways, you could always stop using cleansers for awhile to see if it makes any difference. I just clean my face warm water, then cold water - twice a day. only clean your face with water more than twice if you're sweating from a workout. Other than that, if you feel it's too oily, pat dry with paper. (Blotting and tissue paper work best) I think this should help you alot. Give it a month and see if you notice any difference! :)

Thanks, I'll give it a try, I did used to use dove soap, and I was still oily. It's depressing. I don't even understand why I'm oily, i went from dry flaky skin to oily near enough overnight. Weird!

Try oil absorbing sheets

I've tried them, the problem is that within 10-20 mins it's just as oily again.

Try steam showers...

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a steam shower? I get the jist of what it is, but is it something I can easily do at home?
