they found (in mice) that probiotics increase sebum production.

Here is a quick recap. I was on B5 for years and it was a godsend. Then I took probiotics, then shorty after I took biotin (for less than 2 weeks), and then boom. Oily for the first time in like 7 years!

What if the new "friendly" bacteria in my gut, along with the biotin, increased the levels of acetyl-coa-carboxylase in my body, leading to excess long chain fatty acids and sebum production? What if the continued presence of the "friendly" bacteria is still giving me shots of biotin.

Not a scientist, just a theory, so feel free to shoot it down.

Or if you know, tell me why the B5 just suddenly stopped working.

A lot of vitamins, the B vitamins in particular, are dependent on specific ratios. You can end up doing more harm than good taking large doses of B5 alone. This is why B vitamins are typically sold in a complex that includes all the B vitamins in proportion to each other.

B5 helps acne by inhibiting 5 alpha reductase. Since that inhibition helped your skin, may I suggest you use a different 5 alpha reductase inhibition supplement that performs that function without throwing your vitamin ratios out of whack.

As for the probiotics, it is still somewhat of a guessing game what strains to take, how much to take, etc... Sometimes they are a godsend for people. Sometimes they don't assimilate in the GI tract, and you can actually give yourself SIBO (look it up) from regular probiotic use.

This is the first I heard of of b5 inhibiting 5ar. This would seem contrary to people's fears of losing thier hair on it. Do you have any literature backing that up?

It was done in a study with acne patients specifically. Just google it and try to find it yourself, sorry, I just don't have the time, I've posted about it before.

Of course you will lose hair if you take megadoses of it not in proportion to the other B vitamins. It's not really healthy to take large quantities of B5.

Trail and tested, everytime I took yakualt/vitagen, I breakout. Strange and I thought probiotics are good for your body.
