I wanted to share with you what has finally worked for me with my stubborn, hormonal jawline/throat acne.
First of all, I am a 49 year old woman who has battled acne off and on since puberty. It calmed down in my late 20s to late 30s (birth control) but after the births of my children I had my tubes tied and did not go back on the pill. My skin started to break out again but I was too old to go back on the pill. Periods are longer and more cramps too, unfortunately.
So, for the last 5+ years I've had acne on my jawline and especially on my upper throat area. In April I finally found the combination of therapies that have completely cleared up my jawline/throat acne.

I take one DIM capsule in the evening (I was told that we make our hormones at night so the evening is the best time to take it). I believe that I have estrogen dominance so DIM helps to get rid of the excess estrogen.
In the mornings after I wash my face with a mild cleanser and my skin is dry, I apply a small amount of RetinA to my jawline and upper throat. I also take a Cod Liver Oil supplement with my breakfast and again with my evening meal.
I also gave up dairy. I do indulge in a bit of cheese now and again but do not drink milk or eat yogurt or ice cream.
In the evening after I wash my face again to remove all make up ( I also switched to Bare Minerals powder foundation and have noticed less congestion in my face since I started using it). Then I put on a small amount of Differin gel to my jawline and upper throat area.

I am thrilled with the results after trying soooooo many different things over the past five years or so. I hope all my trials and errors can help someone else!

Thank you so much for sharing. I too have had acne since puberty. Im 28f and Im struggling now more with adult/hormonal acne mostly around my cheeks/jawline/neck and its miserable. Antibiotics havent worked, retin-A probably helps to an extent but my prescription is so strong I can only use it once a week. I finally went to a new derm yesterday and shes putting me on a lower dosage of retin-a and shes also putting me on spiro. Im a little nervous, but honestly relieved that I can try something new and hopefully find relief from this annoying issue Ive suffered with for most of my life.

Im surprised you said you apply retin-a in the AM. Do you wear a heavy duty spf? Did you have issues with your skin adjusting to it? Like I said before, Ive been doing the .08 only 1x/week because anymore than that my skin would get too red and irritated and inflamed and I could never get past that phase with it. 1x / week is all my skin can handle with it. How long have you been doing the retinA and the differin?

I™ve been using retinA (0.05%) off and on since the hormonal acne began to show up so for about 5 years. It got to the point where I stopped using it because it didn™t seem to be working anymore. Now I™m back to using a little only along my jawline/upper throat area in the morning. I use Differin at night but have only been doing that the past 5 months.
I do wear sunscreen if I™m out in the sun but normally I just wear bare minerals make up to cover my melasma which also runs along my jawline.
i forgot to mention that I also take a zinc supplement every day. Zinc and the vitamin A from the cod liver oil are supposed to be good for healing the skin.
I still get about one pimple a week on my face, usually fairly small but still annoying. My throat area has completely cleared up, though and has remained clear.
