Hi! I just started takling yasminelle 5 days ago. My doctor prescribed it because I am really self concious about my mild acne. I have been reading such horrible things in here about this pill, so I want to know this; if I my skin reacts badly to the pill, when will that happen? would it have happened right away? I am very nervous and considering to quit it already because I am scared that my skin will freak out. please help, thanks
Hi there, I've never heard of yasminelle but I'm guessing it's a generic form of yasmin. I was prescribed this pill (yasmin ) in august for hormonal acne and birth control. At first I broke out badly on my jaw and wanted to come off it straight away but I persevered. By the end of the second month my skin was clearing up and now 5 months later my skin is clear! (aside from one pimple at the end of each packet). I hope it works for you! The first month is usually the worst as your hormones adjust but it will likely settle down within the recommended three month trial period. Good luck!
Yasmin is a higher estrogen and anti-androgen birth control. A lot of people have seen success on anti-androgens for PCOS and hormonal acne. However, some people don't fare well on them. Just keep an eye out for any weird symptoms, like hair loss (especially on your eyebrows), androgenic acne (new neck or back acne), and worsening acne after the 2-3 pill pack. You might see a typical chin and/or jawline and cheek IB, which like the above user said could last the entire first pack or so. A good sign is if your skin initially worsens then slowly heals with each passing pack. My worst experiences have been my skin being normal and then boom - acne 5-6 weeks in. It should progressively improve, not slowly get worse.
