Has anyone had good results when supplementing with B Complex, Vitamin C, Fish Oil, and Vitamin D3? I've been reading a lot about vitamin supplements and it seems that they are "proven" to work, but I'd like to get some insight from actual people :)

In my personal opinions, it really depends on the root cause of your acne. Yes there are a lot of cases in which people experience great improvement from taking vitamins supplements. In fact I just visited a very experienced naturopath today and she too told me that a lot of her clients suffered from acne caused by lacking in certain nutritions and vitamins. But for me who get cystic acne, vitamins only serve to get my body healthier and my acne to heal better. I would say I see no harm in taking some vitamins supplements if you have a flawed diet or have been under any antibiotics or oral contraceptives.

I agree with the above poster. I have experimented with different vitamins in the past, but with my acne being hormonal and cystic the only thing that helped me was the birth control pill. I still take vitamins though because I like to think that they are helping me live healthier and are aiding my skin in it's recovery.

There are just SO many vitamins out there or combinations of vitamins and everyone claims that different ones worked for them. It seems like it would take a LOT of trial and error to clear your skin through vitamins alone, which won't work anyway unless your acne is actually caused by a deficiency (which isn't common). I spent a ton of money on different vitamins that claimed to be "proven" to heal acne and 99% of them are in a bag in my closet now lol.I tried all the one's you've listed plus zinc, multivitamins, vitamin E, biotin and a few I can't remember.

Thanks! I'm already on birth control. I switched up my skin care regimen and that seems to have helped but I'm still experiencing the jaw line cystic hormonal acne. I really don't want to take something like Spironolactone though :(

She especially recommends taking Vitamin B complex and also Zinc. Although according to her my acne is not about lacking in vitamins.

Ohh ok! How long have you been on the pill? I know it can take up to a few months to start really working. You could also try changing to different type. In terms of vitamins, you could try a hair/skin/nails vitamin to give you a solid base of good vitamins. I take one every day! If you want more of a certain vitamin you can always take it with the multi. That's what I do.

Hi Jen,

Vitamin d3 can do wonders for your skin. I'd scrap the calcium if I were you especially since you're not supplementing with k2. We can get our daily calcium from foodand milk and even without milk can get enough through food. From what I've read and researched online, vitamin d has "cofactors" so that it works properly and doesn't have any side effects. It needs magnesium, k2 and vitamin a (retinol form, so cod liver oil or animal liver) but most important are definitely mag and k2. Hope this helps

As the above posters said, they would help if the deficiencies were the cause. Though, with zinc, it should help reduce inflammation. And if you were deficient, you should try to catch up on your levels with food/supplements for just general health wise :)

Have any of you heard of B Complex breaking people out? It's all over the reviews :( hmph. I thought it might help with my depression.

Now I'm thinking...

Calcium, Magnesium, D3, and Zinc?

Well 300mg is the daily recommended amount for magnesium where I live (UK) so I either take 300mg and sometimes less and hope that the food I eat will give me the rest :)
