Hello everyone. I wanted to make a post for all of you out there who are frustrated and feeling hopeless with your acne. I remember being there. I have tried literally everything that you could think of to treat my hormonal cystic acne... including birth control and other medications... but nothing has really gotten rid of the problem. I know that my suggestion may not work for everyone but it's worth a try...
First, I started taking a Vitamin D3 supplement daily. Even if your levels of vitamin D are within normal range, you may still be lacking. This is especially true for women with PCOS and other hormonal issues. The next thing I did was add ina calcium/magnesium supplement. Women with this sort of acne and hormonal imbalances often are lacking in these as well. (This regimenmay work for men also as these supplements have healing and anti-inflammatory properties that fight acne regardless)...
I went from waking up to at least 3 large cystic pimples a day that would take more than a month to go away... to maybe one cystic pimple a month. It was truly amazing. I've been struggling for years! Also, the change was not sudden. It definitely took about a month, so stick to it.
In the meantime while you are waiting for your face to heal from the inside out, I found a short term MIRACULOUS treatment for stubborn cystic acne! This of course only treats the symptoms and not the cause... but it works wonders!Cortizone 10! Just place a big blob over a problem area and leave it overnight. Continue doing this for a few nights and the results will amaze you.
Anyways, I thought I would share what worked for me. I'm still sort of shocked that all of this has worked for mebecause I was starting to believe that nothing would. The biggest advice I can give you is DON'T GIVE UP. There are so many ways to treat acne, you just have to keep trying until you figure out what helps yours. I know it's depressing and can ruin your self esteem... but I promise that if you keep trying, it will be worth it. Also, give each new remedy time to work! Don't give up just becauseyou didn'tsee results after a few days... Be patient and good luck!
Congratulations on finding your cure! I definitely advocate supplementation of Vitamin D and I'm glad that you found it to be very helpful. Just wanted to drop in and say congrats. You're a motivation for all and I hope that your message helps someone suffering out there

hey mind if I ask your opinion on this site? I found it on here somewhere and it seems really good so far.

It will only help if you take the proper forms of the vitamins. You should also try to make your own green smoothies if you'd like. Vitamins work differently for everyone, as everybody has a different deficiency and reaction. But it's been found that all acne patients have antioxidant deficiencies and a current medical theory on why Antibiotics work for acne is that it acts like an antioxidant. You should increaseGlutathioneat all costs. That's the master antioxidant you want to focus on.Vitamin C helps along with: L-Cysteine, L-Glycine, L-Glutamine, exercise, and a few other things boost Glutathione levels.
I've checked that website out and it's quite good. But remember that the person that hosts that website is an affiliate marketer. A lot of the things he recommends will be for the sake of selling someone else's item and he'll make you take a lot of unnecessary supplements. His advice is good though and medically backed for the most part.
It takes about a month until you really start to see results. Zinc alone cured my cystic acne over the course of 3 months. I didn't add any topicals but a list of vitamins along with slight diet modifications. I'm not acne free yet, I still get breakouts like everyone else but I'm attempting something new. I'm going to be making a blog post detailing it whenever I'm done with it. For now, I will not unveil what I'm trying to prevent any bad advice if it doesn't work.
Keep me updated on your progress and feel free to PM me. I haven't made a significant post yet as I'm working on something big but it's mostly an experiment at this point.

Ive read about glutathione...I'll work on that, thanks. What easily dose if zinc are you taking?
I'll let you know. At the moment my skin is good over all but usually have 1-3 big spots. Right now I have only one on my cheek but its noticeable. Its not really the kind you can squeeze( I think? ).
What do you suggest for calming down one big spot quickly? Does zinc cream work?
Hey thanks for the comments guys. I appreciate it. =) As for time it took to work, I would say about a month. Hang in there!

Do you think calcium/magnesium and vitamin d3 help for hormonal acne too?
Kdc7, Congrats on finding what works for you!!!
To everyone else suffering with acne, I encourage you to go to a functional medicine doctor and get diagnostic tests done. Of course, you need to have the funds available, but in my opinion the money spent was well worth it. Besides, think about the money that you're saving in the long run. I had moderate/severe acne for over ten years until I found out that I had several internal issues, intolerances, and vitamin deficiencies.
I hope in the near future we can eradicate this disease. I wish you guys the best of luck, and I hope you each find what works for you.
Im totally agree with kdc7 don't give up if you didn't see results, homeremedies need more time to observe good results. Also you should do test to see if it comes from hormonal imbalance asYola4said. From my experience, i spent too a lot of money in medicine and tests without any results because i have hormonal balance, so i keep using only natural remedies to get rid of this complex problem.

Like a naturopath?

Yes! But do your research and make sure to check that their
degree/info. is legit. Also, look for references and people that have had success under their care.
The first naturopath I used was not in it for the right reasons. To put it simply, he was greedy and didn't really want to help other people. However, I learned my lesson and spent awhile researching different naturopaths.
And luckily, I came across one who really wanted to help people. I not only cured my acne, but I even "cured" my newly diagnosed Rheumatoid arthritis while working with him!
Listen to your body. Acne can often be a warning sign that something is off. Whether it be hormones, digestive system, deficiencies, ect. Find a good naturopath/functional/integrative medicine Doctor that can run a few diagnostic tests. It's important to treat the underlying cause or the acne will just keep resurfacing. Good luck
