Hi! I finally decided to stop lurking and make an account to just make this post...

I used to take microgestin fe 1/20; no problems. Just wanted to try something new because I hated the idea of throwing up (happens) and thinking I can't have sex for a week now because I threw up my birth control. Is that logic completely wrong btw?

I've been on Implanon since August 2015. Everything was great, no periods, no acne, and WEIGHT LOSS (15lbs?).
But when April 2016 hit, I just started breaking out on my forehead A LOT. I've never had acne or multiple pimples in my life! My family have a history of great skin too.. so I was confused and upset that it finally hit me? I thought maybe it'll clear up in a week. Nope. It's June 2016 and now it's on my chin and cheeks too. I've honestly been so depressed, guys. I don't want to see my boyfriend or go outside.

I heard DIM-plus has done wonders and more. But will it really clash with my contraceptive implant?? I haven't taken out my implant because I have to wait until August for my insurance contract to end with my university. (I accidentally forgot to waive it and I really don't have the money to pay for removals and birth control pills right now).

So I'm just SO STUCK. Please help me guys. I thought spending money on Korean skin care products will bless my skin but I realized it's all in my hormones.

Hi!
It's weird that Implanon has given you a breakout after almost a year of using it, usually it takes the first three months to see if bc is bad for your skin or not. Maybe it's due to something else? But of course, it's possible, espcially since Implanon is a progestin-only method (no estrogen) and these are most likely to break you out. Dim-Plus changes the level of estrogen and it might interfere with your bith control. I'd ask a doctor before I decided to start taking it. Try some topical medications while you're waiting to have Implanon removed and then switch to something else, maybe Yasmin or other anti-acne bc pills. I know that oral birth control sucks (you get drunk, you throw up and you start panicking, every single time). I'm on NuvaRing and despite a very mild initial breakout in the first month, it's working fine (and I don't have to worry about throwing up or missing a pill). It's the same progestin that is used in Implanon (only combined with estrogen) though, so it might break you out as well. There's also the copper IUD - it's non-hormonal, so it won't affect your skin, and it doesn't interfere with Dim-Plus.
