Hello again!
I basically just wanted to share my experience with the regimen so far, as suffering from mild hormonal acne.
I have shared my experience with acne on a post before, in the Hormonal Acne Forum, and what where my major mistakes.
In short, I was on the pill Yasmin for more than 10 years, stopped, had a bunch of acne, tried a bunch of "natural" treatments, didn't stick to a routine, got scared, went back on the pill, it was horrible and now I stopped it again, 4 months ago, promising to stick to the Acne.org regimen. For the longer version, check http://www.acne.org/messageboard/topic/357265-my-experience-and-major-mistakes/ .
Now that I'm 1 1/2 months in the regimen, I can let you know how it's working out for me.
Well, my skin is just... amazing. I haven't had this soft skin in a long time. My acne is 90% gone. I'm only left with the annoying red marks, but that's ok honestly!
I am in love with jojoba oil. I travel a lot, long flights, so I went twice to China, from Denmark, in this period of time, and once to Portugal. My skin usually breaks out ridiculously when I fly, because of the dry air on the plane and then also because of changes in both air and water quality and timezones. These times, I had like, one pimple. Small, pathetic and lonely. And that's how it died.
So, I don't follow the regimen 100% to the letter, because I only have mild acne so I don't need all that BP in my face the whole time.
I don't use BP in the morning. I only wash my face with my amazing cleanser (everything I use is absolutely NON-COMEDOGENIC), then put moisturizer mixed with jojoba (3 drops) and then sunscreen with jojoba (3 drops) as well. And I'm good to go, as I don't wear make up.
At night, I use BP. I am now only using it every other night. So, I cleanse, wait 15 minutes, but half a finger of BP, wait 10 minutes and put the beautiful mixture of moisturizer and jojoba (6 drops). I also put, every 2 or 3 nights, a bit of Glycolic Acid on my marks (I don't put it in my whole face because I have freckles and I don't want them gone!). Whenever I feel a pimple is coming, when I put BP I concentrate a little more on that spot, do the rest of the routine and then put glycolic on it and it just dies of fright from the overwhelming attack.
Also, every morning I take Zinc and Evening Primrose Oil - I used to take vitamin D, but it finished 2 weeks ago and I didn't buy more. I will, though.
Side effects:
1) My neck is ITCHY!
2) I have to be super careful when spreading the moisturizer so that it doesn't get too close to my lips or eyes because it carries BP around and it just dries out the corners of both my eyes and mouth! I put a lot of vaseline around my eyes and Bepanthene cream around my lips. (Bepanthene Feridas is like the best cream ever, life saviour. I was on Roacutan when I was a teenager and it was the only thing that could help me with my extremely dry lips. It's also great with scars.)
3) Annoying not to be able to cuddle with my boyfriend after putting BP on my face! Hahahaha
4) Great skin, more confidence and overall happier. And I can put my hair up without feeling like a little monster
I'll leave you with my evolution - bare in mind that when I started I was not on my worst and all those red marks were actual pimples.
