About a year ago my gynecologist put me on the pill because I had some issues with my period. My acne, which was already pretty bad (by genetic, my mom had really severe acne from the age of 13 to her early 30's), went absolutely crazy. It was severe acne, my face hurt when I smiled and I had scars, huge bumps, and red marks all over since it spread to my chest and back. I stopped taking the pill and took a friend's advice about using organic products and narrowing it down to two or three that were natural and simple instead of six chemically agressive ones and my skin completely cleared, I rarely even get a single pimple now.
The thing is, I'd like to use the pill as a birth control method now, but I'm scared shitless of the acne coming back. Seriously, I can't even describe my fear, I remember crying every single night because people never looked me in the eye or simply because I felt like a monster, completely out of place when I looked at myself in the mirror. I never want to feel that way again, but then again I would like to use a birth control method and most of them include hormones,
Do you think my acne will come back? Or maybe it was just like that specific brand of pills? (no point in asking the brand, it is only sold here in my country, which isn't even an english speaking one)
Please help
What kind of birth control were you taking at the time? Some pills can actually make your acne worse, since their progestin is androgenic.
Here is very good post that can explain this: http://www.acne.org/messageboard/topic/330166-good-bad-birth-control-pills-and-implants-for-acne/
Also, keep in mind that some pills, even if they're anti-androgenic, might make your acne worse before it gets better -- so you'll only see results after 3 or 4 months.
