Clearogen: Anti-Dht Topicals?

INTRO

So, as many of you have been doing, I have been doing my own research. I've been recently trying DIM (for only 2 days now) and researching oral ways to inhibit my hormonal acne (caused by DHT, for either men or women).

I started searching for topical applications that use the same ingredients I had researched that inhibit DHT (such as Saw Palmetto) and came upon Clearogen.

I just ordered 2 bottles to try it and, theoretically (since I have not yet tested this myself), it should be incredibly promising for 2 reasons:

1) Topical application with benzoyl peroxide & anti-DHT ingredients. I have been so scared of side effects (including some minor head dizziness and stomach bloatedness due to DIM) that I am so scared of ordering any other oral pills. However, since topical application of Clearogen allegedly (according to a decent amount of testimonials I read as well as the ingredients on their acne lotion), it would prevent any hormonal side effects that would occur if you were to take oral pills. It only gets applied to where it goes.

2) Prevents DHT from binding to sebaceous gland (according to the makers of Clearogen). Clearogen claims to do two things: first, it prevents the transformation from testosterone to DHT. Then, it prevents DHT from being able to bind to the sebaceous gland, which is often what overproduces sebum and causes clogged pores and, therefore, acne.

I am pretty surprised that this type of solution, a topical anti-DHT treatment, is not more widely discussed. Most of the answers I have found on my on-and-off years of lurking on these forums involved completely different things for acne, which is almost always hormonal.

Remember that these are alleged statements by Clearogen and that I have not yet tried them, but have ordered them already. I can post my results over the next months if you guys want!

I am not endorsing this product or anything, just the idea of a topical treatment having anti-DHT properties and ingredients such as Saw Palmetto. I think this is a step in the right direction of discussion, and honestly I think if there is a topical anti-androgen solution, we should be avoiding the side effects that could be caused by oral anti-androgen solutions... since DIM has had some strange effects on me even in the last 48 hours on 100mg/day.

QUESTIONS/CONCERNS

1. One of my biggest concerns if whether or not a topical can truly affect hormones.I wasn't sure if something topical could affect sebaceous glands/DHT production from the outside? Anyone with biology/medical experience weigh in on this, please?

What are the full list of ingredients in this product if you don't mind sharing? My understanding is that while DHT and other hormones attach to receptors that exist in the skin, so you can have normal circulating hormones but a hormonal problem in the skin itself, trials with topical DHT inhibitors to date have had mixed results. You can do a search on pubmed to find some of the studies and see for yourself.

My thoughts exactly. A very expensive BP treatment with a little saw palmetto thrown in there. You could probably make your own saw palmetto topical for a lot cheaper.

If you want a topical that is actually based on anti-DHT ingredients and not BP, see the link in my signature "Topicals for Hormonal Acne."
