I've never really suffered from serious acne until I developed anorexia in January this year. I haven't had a period since March (6 months). Around May I started getting full blown acne mainly around my mouth/chin/jaw/cheeks, I also sometimes get it on my back. I've also noticed peach fuzz on my cheeks and area where a beard would grow on a man. My skin is also super oily for the first time in my life. I'm 26/f. Is this hormonal acne? I'm pretty sure it must be but all the hormone levels in my blood came back normal. I'm getting a scan of my ovaries done next week to see if I have PCOS.

I'm on doxycycline but it doesn't seem to be doing much, nor is differin (topical), however I've just started Dianette, do you think this will work for my acne?

Thanks!

Google "anorexia and progesterone".

Anorexia and bulimia put your hormones severely out of whack, and they usually do not "bounce back" to how they were before anorexia. You will probably have to look into either natural progesterone cream or birth control pills to regulate your hormones from here on out.

I assume that you have recovered from your ED and are eating normally again? Treating the hormones will not do any good if you're still relapsing.
