I just started Aviane 28 for acne-unrelated reasons - I do get breakouts around the time of my period but I don't think the rest of my acne is hormone-based.

It's only been 2 weeks but I have noticed that I'm getting a couple of pimples developing around my jaw and the lower half of my cheek.

Has anybody had experience with Aviane? I know I haven't been on it long enough to really see the side effects but I've been on birth control before (Yaz) and I didn't get any crazy side effects...but my skin is getting worse and worse these days so I'm terrified that taking some artificial hormones will muck it all up

Please see the information below in my signature. Aviane 28 uses levonorgestrel, which is a type of progestin that can actually make acne worse. It is actually one of the worst progestins for an acne-prone patient. If you were recommended this pill for acne, I would switch doctors...they clearly don't know what they're doing.

Yaz is one of the best birth controls for acne...any reason why you didn't just go back on Yaz?
