Hi, ive had acne many years and tried many treatments and find now its just a case of trying to keep it under control. My issue now is sometimes i get a spot and underneath is these tiny white sacs/ plugs in the pores. the spot wont heal until these are out. there are quite stretchy. The onky way to get them out is with tweezers. Once out it bleeds a little but then heals as normal. Usually it leaves a hole. are they the start or a cyst? Keratin plug? ive searched everywhere and cannot find an answer. I did find some peoe said about mites but i dont believe its a living thing possibly a plug or cyst of some sort. Has any one had similar and found an answer / diagnosis? Thanks
Had zero clue so I asked ChatGPT. Not that ChatGPT would know, but here's it's answer.
Have you asked your derm?
The entire "tiny white plugs" thread is about this condition. So many people are dealing with this & there is seemingly no answer. Varying things have worked for some people, but I suspect many are still dealing with whatever this is non-stop. I've studied that thread like the back of my hand attempting to find a "cure".
It looks like you may have to experiment to see what works for you. Dermatologists are quick to throw antibiotics at it and/or call it acne & label you a "picker". Only those of us who have this know that this is no "acne".
It seems like quite a few people were prescribed oral antibiotics after going to see a dermatologist & there is little-to-no improvement and the condition persists or returns.
Some things that I recall people saying worked for them:
1. Oral anti-virals (acyclovir/valacyclovir)
2. Oral anti-fungals (fluconazole)
3. Topical anti-fungals sold over-the-counter
4. topical borax concoctions, apple cider vinegar, etc.
5. Antihistamines daily (zyrtec)
6. Ocean salt water
These are only some of the things I remember. Unfortunately, none of them have worked for me despite trying practically everything.
