Hi
I've been having hair on my shoulders for years and I decided to shave the hair off using cream and razor a few months ago, I did this in the shower. I then shave my shoulders every couple of weeks or so, I also using a laser device (an expensive Braun one) to slow the hair growth after I finish shaving. But recently I've been getting a lot of acne on my shoulders, of course I'm not touching or scratching them to prevent scarring. Any advice on what to do?
Appreciate it
It might be from:
- Irritation
- Ingrown hairs
Either way, I would do the body regimen on your shoulder area at night and see if that keeps you clear.

Sounds like could be ingrown hair like Dan states.
I would also add, ask a dr to look at it. Depending on what it is you could probably benefit from a topical that helps something like keratosis pilaris (aka)ingrown/clogged pore stuff. Or if it's really just pure acne and it's numerous or bothersome, maybe a sodium sulfurate wash or something like low dose doxycycline to kill bacteria.
It all depends how severe we are talking and what exactly is going on. But since you cited that you're not touching it to prevent scarring, I assume it's meaningful enough that you should check with a dr and perhaps one of the treatments above would apply depending on what it is.

Is there a way to get rid of the ingrown hairs? Sorry I'm no expert. Would a hair removal cream work? Even applying it over the acne?
Depends what is causing what you're describing. If it's ingrown hairs due to shaving habits or too close or just naturally ingrown causing bacteria or acne from blocked pores then it might be different than actual dead skin cells that cause something like keratosis pilaris. That's why it really depends.
From what you describe your saying it's acne related. But I would make sure you know what's causing it. I only say that because you seem to be encountering this only recently after you shave or what not. You could be somehow irritating your pores or something due to shaving habits or that other thing.
There are tons of things you can do. Dan posted a link that entails a regimen that likely helps ordinary acne, but there's other prescription things like sodium sulfacetamide which is like a sulfur wash. There's other acne meds. Doxycycline is particularly helpful (oral), and so on.
Also diet and environment definitely play a part. If your skin is seriously sensitive and you shave and your kind of prone to irritation it could be possible the newly hairless skinbreaks out more or is easily irritated or exposed.
